Environmental Friendly with Dr.Seuss' The Lorax!

03.12.2012 – Dr. Seuss The Lorax was shown in North America on March 2, 2012 and the special press media screening in the Philippines was held on Mach 11, 2012 at the IMAX Theater in SM North Edsa where kids and parents greeted the “walking peanut” mascot with lots of photo opportunity.

The screening did not start until the program ended with the performance by students who composed a song about saving the environment and other festivities with the theme that also supported by Green Peace Philippines which is promoting Earth Day 2012. The film that was shown was in IMAX 3D with special thanks to SM Cinemas for bringing this event yesterday Sunday afternoon.

There were no trailers shown prior to the screening after the small program immediately they showed the movie in the big screen. This film was produced by the same animation that made Despicable ME a box office hit which made a slight cameo prior to the start of the story.

The animation was just okay it had vibrant colors and of course The Lorax was definitely unmistaken to be Garfield by one viewer who must be spots blind, since the famed Lasagna devourer was not lacking details as the next orange creature. Danny Devito’s Lorax character is certainly the creature giving the Once-Ler a lesson about meddling with nature. Taylor Swift’s first time voicing a character got her features in there and most the voice cast did really well.

This is no Despicable Me and the kids will certainly get the theme about saving the environment. There’s a reminder about the lessons we should take part about saving the trees. Basically the story is for the kids to enjoy and the humor was hilarious in its own way.

There was no dull moment to get the story rolling as it plowed right to the climax with some action. It had some moments that the essence of the original book was kind of lost going through this film. But there’s enough for the kids to understand what the movie’s message is trying to be conveyed.

Overall it’s an average film rated at 3.5 out of 5 as it appeals more to the younger audience and it certainly gave us a few laughs with some neat twists as how some have previously reviewed this as mixed. It’s certainly one of those weekend movies a family should see this week once it hits theaters.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax opens on March 14, 2012 in Philippine cinemas from Universal Pictures to be distributed by Solar Entertainment. Again special acknowledge to SM Cinemas for showing the film at the IMAX Theater in SM North Edsa!
