The Adventure in Snow White and The Huntsman.

05.31.2012 – Snow White and The Huntsman had a special press media screening in the Philippines which was welcomed with a positive note. The fantasy film starts Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth.

Of course you’ll never forget Chris Hemsworth fresh from the billion dollar success of The Avengers as well as the upcoming Thor 2. But this time he’s the Hunstman opposite Kristen Stewart’s Snow White in this action adventure that pits them against Charlize Theron’s Queem Ravenna.

The event opened its doors at 10AM but even before they started welcoming the fans there was a very long line that stretches outside the Bayanihan Center at the Unilab Complex. Every year Komikon Inc. organizes two conventions and we are only seeing the first half of its greatness in promoting the local scene.

The visual of the film is breath taking with most of it is shot in the United Kingdom. The mountains and the forests with special CGI where not overly exaggerated but good enough to please any viewer to make this something good to the eye.

The sound stage at pinewood studious provided the scenes from the dark forest and interiors or of the castle with all the technicalities this is promising for those who are getting ready to watch this version of Snow White.

Story wise the phasing was good and it was told through the Huntsman’s perspective. Though not give you enough idea what really happened and we all know the basic concept of Snow White’s story they just added some kick to it for some serious action that reminded us of another movie in “The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc” which stars Milla Jovovich but with the Snow White twist.

Though not spoil you with the movie itself it lacks one particular element a fairy tale movie has which we highly suggest to see it for yourself. This is more of an action film that takes Kristen Stewart’s acting chops into a courageous butt kicking woman from her hapless dames in distress in the Twilight movies.

We’ve seen darker versions of Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland and now Snow White in the big screen twice even this year. The question is who’s going to be the next film that has ties with fairytales represented in a big budget Hollywood film.

Overall Snow White and the Huntsman earn 3 out of 5 poisonous apples as not what you expect it would be. The visuals are breathtaking as they filmed entirely in UK and the action scenes are top notch. The performances of the actors are nicely done. Charlize Theron does a better Evil Queen in this one.

Snow White and Huntsman open in cinemas on June 1, 2012 from Universal Pictures to be distributed by Solar Entertainment and United International Pictures. Acknowledgment goes also to SM Cinema in SM Megamall for hosting the advance screening.
