Playmobil Figures Series 2: Adventurer!

01.03.2013 – Playmobil gets creative in how to expand their brand following their long time competitor making their version mystery figures in blind bags. Currently they are on their second series with boys in green while girls in yellow.

Though not as a hit yet unlike the popular construction toy brand, Playmobil continues to be relevant without acquiring well known properties trying to be a mainstream name. But they have been around since 1975 making the simplest toys.

Playmobil continues its focus to make the brand relevant venturing into the blind bagged mystery figures theme. For those who are not into larger sets, which makes an interesting curiosity for would-be collectors and those who grew up owning the earlier sets that are now discontinued and now collectible items.

The second series offers some more variations of nameless characters and continue Playmobil’s vision of imaginative play. The interchangeable parts of the figures make it one of the highlights that make the brand stands out. The boys packaged in green blind bagged have some interesting characters, but the girls version in yellow blind bagged has its own surprises that certainly a hit among collectors and child-alike.

Adventurer or is it Lara Croft?

When the second series of mystery figures for Playmmobil was revealed some speculated about of the characters in the girls yellow bagged one in particular is the “Girl Adventurer” that’s obviously has resemblance to the famous videogame character named Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.

The all black attire and braided long hair armed with two hand guns removable to her double-holster belt that includes a removable head-lamp on her head is enough to give away that resemblance to the famous adventure, which was also portrayed by Angelina Jolie in two live action films based from the popular videogame. But Playmobil doesn’t get licensed properties for the reason why the figure is dressed entirely black and not in true Lara Croft colors.

Journey of Adventurer Begins

Like most of the Playmobil figures have limited articulation which mostly on both arms with rotating wrists and head. The details even though it appears it look like Lara Croft is impressive and still crafted in simplicity that some finds her dull.
