| 05.06.2013 – Last weekend Free Comic Book Day was celebrated in the Philippines. Besides the celebration that was greeted at the Fort Bonifacio High Street last Saturday. There was also the one at Quezon City in National Bookstore with the collaboration with Castle Geek.
This was billed as “Setting the Record” for most sketch cards done by the local artists. It was heavily promoted as early as February that Castle Geek and National Bookstore will be bringing Free Comic Book Day. |
During the event there was a huge line to start forming at the NBS store in Quezon Avenue. It was one Castle Geek’s first FBCD since the store opened in September 2012. It’s actually the sister of Comic x Hub an online comic book store which is also part of this event based on the sponsors attached to the posters and shirts the artist where wearing during the event.
National Book Store has participated and had their own FCBD events in the past and this was their first major event to have held one on the official date.
The event more like a mini-comic book convention complete with other merchandise that was being sold in their booths. The eye catching Blu-Ray edition of the Marvel Cinematic movies to include the block buster Avengers was on display.
