| 09.27.2013 – Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered on ABC television Tuesday (Wednesday in Asia) but won’t be picked up for international viewing until season 1 episodes possibly shown halfway.
Clark Gregg reprises his roles as Phil Coulson after his apparent death in Marvel’s The Avengers in 2012. There was no explanation on how he was resurrected but he’s back assembled a team to find out about a group called “Rising Tide” in the pilot episode that was first screened last July during the San Diego Comic Convention. |
The new show follows the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s directed by Joss Whedon. Initial reaction for the pilot episode looks promising but leaves more questions unanswered mostly aimed at Phil Coulson’s death.
For those who haven’t seen the show highly advised there will be SPOILER ALERT as how we take a close look at the very first episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Television shows these days are hard to please their viewers compared to the movies. But this one was so hyped up expectations was very high in the production quality of the show. Marvel definitely is putting some financial effort in making this TV show possible and they are definitely consistent regarding the vehicles and sets used from the movies seemed like your still watching a movie.
But towards the course of the show you’ll notice the difference but when you’re focused trying to get your head wrapped up with the story it won’t matter either. There was some redundancy in character that was quickly pointed out like Ming-Na Wen and Brett Dalton’s characters have the same function the same way Agents Fitz and Simmons would be just one person instead.
Though credit is due to Ming-Na for the performance of being the silent but deadly ass kicking agent who would appear as what Phil Coulson would say “just a pilot.” She definitely had more action than Brett Dalton’s Agent Grant Ward.
There are some notable scenes that where obvious from the opening sequence when Mike Petersen (J. Augusta Richards) was witnessed by people rescuing someone from the fire his face could have been easily seen by people. Based on the TV trailer his face was seen by many people when he could have kept his face hidden under his hood.
Phil Coulson got his hands full being the show’s team leader and it’s still too early to criticize what the show lacks. Hopefully we’ll see how this goes rolling in the next three episodes and it’s something to catch up or if you’re missing it there’s always DVR.
Overall Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is a likable show but not entirely people would love. It’s still having more time to grow and where the direction of the show will take its course but since its existing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this would definitely attract fans new and old.
If there’s villain of the week expect this show to possible have some cameos of Marvel characters as Samuel L. Jackson hinted his interest in making an appearance in the show and why should he not. When you talk about S.H.I.E.LD there’s always a Nick Fury attached to it and that would be fun if he does make an appearance.
