STGCC 2013: Marvel Promotes & Discovers Talents!

10.02.2013 – Marvel’s appearance in conventions outside North America such as the recently concluded STGCC 2013 (Singapore Toy Games and Comics Convention) shows that their popularity with their characters appearing in other forms of media is the sign of changes to the company.

Acquired by Disney in 2009 signify bigger things are coming expanding their reach not only through comic books. CB Cebulski, Senior VP of Creative & Creator Development travels to STGCC.

He was present with Cort Lane, Vice President, Animation Development & Production for Marvel Television. They were there talking about the history of the company and also meeting up and coming talent who possibly break through the house of ideas.

It was Marvel’s second appearance at STGCC (the first one was in 2010) which was held from September 1-2, 2013 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This was bigger in scope as they are also promoting upcoming shows like Agents of SHIELD (on its second episode on ABC in North America), Hulk and the agents of SMASH, and Avengers Assemble (now currently being aired on Toonami Asia).

The booth was bigger mostly taking a fraction of the convention center and the Singaporeans welcomed Marvel’s return to the country. In the main stage C.B. Cebulski talked to the fans who participated in trivia questions as wells as the history of the company from its beginnings as Timely Inc. and the rest was history.

CB also had a panel Q&A discussion with Marvel artists David Mack, and Joe Madureira with Tan Eng Huat on stage. Even one fan politely asked a DC Comics related question that Joe Madureira politely answered.

The second day definitely was a fun convention to end the coolest pop culture event in Asia. Cort Lane was present signing autographs and helping to promote upcoming Marvel animated shows in Hulk agents of SMASH and Avengers Assemble. This also includes the much anticipated Agents of SHIELD. Not to forget Thor: The Dark World which will be out earlier in Asia sometime this month.

Singapore Toys, Games, and Comic Convention (STGCC) is at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center happening this weekend (September 1 and 2, 2013). For more updates and details LIKE the Official Facebook Page or follow them on Twitter: @SingaporeTGCC
