Nowhere To Hide... Afterlife with Archie!

12.07.2013 – Archie Comics has been around since 1939 featuring fictional teenagers Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle and Jughead Jones. Over the years it’s mostly focused on the love triangle between Archie, Betty & Veronica.

The concept of an American comic book themed slice of life was just constantly being updated for the modern times. But little known to casual readers that the latest Archie comic book won’t be the one you’ll expect to see featuring zombies…

Afterlife with Archie is not your grandfather’s comic book or the series you followed during school days. This is a very much a modern take on the character that has been around more than 75 years.

The fictional town of Riverdale gets a serious threat that would change the way you’ve known the characters. Afterlife with Archie the comic book has been out since October 2013 and its getting cult following never before seen in the history of the series. It’s already had sold out its second print of the first issue, and the continuation from the recently released second issue makes it the most read Archie comics in years.

For years Archie’s only problem is choosing between Betty and Veronica, but time changes when you’re being chased by the undead Jughead Jones.

The premise of this series reveals Reggie Mantle accidentally runs over Hot Dog, beloved pet of Jughead Jones. When Jughead asked good friend Sabrina, the Teenage Witch to raise his favorite pet from the dead everything well… All hell breaks loose.

“Afterlife” takes you back to the old creepy horror titles from the 1940s and 1950s like “Tales from the Crypt” published by E.C. Comics which is bright, clean-cut illustrations of Archie characters first drawn by artist Dan DeCarlo. Its gets interesting how Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who has written the series combined with the art Francesco Francavilla gives you a different take on the characters older fans have known for years.

The series will be continuously published each month and in each issue someone dies. This is definitely going to attract older readers who have outgrown the series, and would come back getting re-acquainted with these characters something they haven’t seen.

Afterlife with Achie #2 is already going to release a variant second print and issue #3 is about to be released soon. For Philippine-based readers in Metro Manila check out your local comic shops at Comic Odyssey, Comic Quest, Dragon’s Keep, Druid’s Keep, Filbar’s and Planet X Comics for availabitlity.
