Movie Review: From the mind of Maleficent!
Maleficent definitely was well received in the live action adaptation that tells her own story. This is a different story a far from what a fairy tale like Sleeping Beauty has brought success to the house of mouse.
Angelina Jolie’s take on the role saves the film’s entire premise, and has embraced the character like no other. The visuals certainly was eye catching having an Academy Award winner for special effects as its novice director is rare, but having been part of Avatar and Alice in Wonderland certainly Robert Stromberg deserves the chair.
The story from the mind of Maleficent was something of a surprise in comparing it to the original animated feature film. But if you take away that idea and treat it as a new film it gives to whole lot meaning that Maleficent is not all that bad.
It’s quite the opposite but what definitely will derail you from its thru narrative is what comes through the end. There are so many things that you’ll be disconnected, but through the visual spectacle Maleficent pays homage to the original only in a twisted and different way that makes it rather underwhelming.
But in the end Angelina Jolie as the title character saves the day through her performance in this film. The best scene so far would be Vivienne Jolie-Pitt’s performance as the young Aurora who got lost in the woods and encountered Maleficent.
You’ll see how Jolie in character carries her real life daughter and see little Vivienne who has features of Brad Pitt perform in her on-screen debut.
Overall Maleficent is visually interesting narrative from start up to the climactic scenes, but leaves you lost in the fairy forest on where the actual direction was heading. Save that Maleficent terrifically made this film look better from failing from its gravitas.
The Disney villain film earns a solid B+ or a modest 7 out of 10 rating for such an entertaining film for everyone and Angelina Jolie certainly is Maleficent.
