Galerie Anna | Multiverse
Seven artists have pooled together an impressive line-up of works that defines the title of this show, which was inspired by popular culture. If you have appreciate the artworks in comicbooks or anything that defines this part of contemporary art then you’ll appreciate the visual perspective of this show.
For those random individuals in all walks of life who has never been expose to this type of medium they would immediately gravitate to their curiosity regarding the content of each art pieces. Most of it range from “Art Appropriation” from existing medium that inspired their works. From He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to Ghostbusters as visible as the eye can see this was such an impressive exhibit.
The artists themselves are a grand as each of them have already established their style and work locally and internationally as they are…
Iyan De Jesus
Mr. S
Farley De Rosario
Reen Barrera
RA Tijing
JP Pining
Christian Tamandong
Iyan De Jesus
She started working on her art incorporating gears and mechanical aesthetics as she gradually evolved so doe Iyan’s stylish personality. But still kept the same silent shy woman even before her work has been established in the contemporary art scene as her current pieces here gives you that nature vibe.
Mr. S
From monster creatures to human behaviours captured in art. Mr. S like his contemporaries in the local scene continues to evolve and impress with his medium as well as consistent in the use of colors. There’s nothing like Mr. S that can be said about his work that is something to aspire from.
Farley Del Rosario
Rarely seen his work but for this show it was a standout that says his childhood and what he watched on Friday nights as both He-Man and the Masters of the Universe & The ‘Real’ Ghostbusters were aired on this timeslot in the Philippines. Farley’s depiction of He-Man riding Battle cat with Orko are images of his childhood. The same goes to how he interprets The ‘Real’ Ghostbusters, the animated series not the live-action film is seen in his works that put this show in the map of attention from mall passers-by.
Reen Barrera
In his world there’s this story of a dog owner and the family surrounding the characters he established putting together through his paintings. Reen who recently had two solo shows this year continue to build a resume and he isn’t stopping here. It is certainly a delightful sight for those who have seen his previous shows to see his works stand together with these artists.
RA Tijing
Another aspiring artist that incorporate popular culture to his unique art style is worthy of being part of the ‘Multiverse’ with colourful and expressive works of art RA continues to expand concepts that invites curiosity and challenge the random individual to look at his works included in this show.
JP Pining
If you haven’t gotten lost at a Starbucks somewhere in Makati City and stumbled upon his art in this show chances are you might see it. The abstract, colourful, and expressive roosters in this show is just the tip of the iceberg.
Christian Tamandong
The earlier works of Christian defined an impressive menagerie of art. He’s been around long enough to even produce his own art toy. But for this show the colourful shapes defines flight to this realm of nature and wonder that rounds up this group show that define each and everyone’s world.
The ‘Multiverse’ is not just about pop art it is an expressive place of curiosity that is shared by these creative individuals that defined that title as a diverse group that come together in making this show happen. It is indeed an impressive line-up that shares their unique world that calls the random individual to appreciate art once in a while.
