| Toy Kingdom is truly an amazing toy store, and it’s not just about the toys for everyone. SM Retail which manages the sub-stores that also include Pet Express is also participating in this year’s Warehouse Sale as the growth of local pet owners has become part of the brand.
This year’s return of the Toy Kingdom Warehouse Sale after a brief hiatus brings back not only the annual event that began in 2007 but also expands a variety of diverse interests that is for the whole family, and not just toy hobbyists and those looking for their early Christmas gift shopping a month ahead of the Holiday season. |
Of course, the unexpected turnout due to the hiatus in the last three years brings new challenges to the organizers on how to accommodate the long lines that snaked down to the third level of SM Megamall after everyone went to visit their departed loved ones during All Souls Day (held every second day of November) or known as “Day of the Dead” in other countries.
The huge crowd’s build-up after lunch had a tremendous impact on the staff managing the event was certainly a challenge that they hope to improve next year. So far, there have been no serious issues as Toy Kingdom staff worked together with the SM Retail team to make sure the event went as smoothly as possible despite the crowd lining up to the SM Megatrade Hall.
There are so many things to discover at this year’s Toy Kingdom Warehouse Sale, which is how this event has become a staple for most toy fanatics and hobbyists who continue to shop at this “Amazing Toy Store” that was founded in 1990. The Toy Kingdom Toy Warehouse Sale has been around since 2007 and it has become a sort of tradition to most toy collectors and communities alike.
This year may not be as spectacular as it was since its last one in 2019, but the staff are taking notes to improve the event to cater to everyone’s needs. With kids and pets coming with their parents and their human companion the event expands to learn to bring a safe environment for the next one.
Kids & Pets Advisory
It may not be noticeable but during this event, there were a lot of children crying and pets getting stressed due to huge crowds. There’s no easy way to say it, but the TK Toy Warehouse Sale is an indoor venue at the Megatrade Hall and ventilation for this place is getting stressed from the coming in and out of groups of people in the venue.
It is best to leave your pets at home or any friend who will take them while you shop at this event. The children, though they are anxious and excited not all of them will understand the amount of people surrounding them that would build anxiety.
The best way for children to appreciate this event is to be early and less crowded than taking them late to the event and the lines started forming that is less convenient for them to appreciate to choose the toys they want and for those “first-timers” this is a practical way to bring your children at the height of the crowd build-up.
Chaotic Checkout in Photos
There’s nothing like an image of a line lost in translation when getting out with your purchase, and the TK Toy Warehouse Sale team is heavily commended for their patience in letting people know where to go and what part of the long line they should be going to pay for their purchases.
It is unavoidable that some individuals are not focused on what they’re doing due to what they see and discover at the last minute. It’s quite a tightrope to go through the long lines just to get through checkout.
For those who have learned their lessons today, next year should be a test of understanding and being early as we can understand that some came from the cemetery before this and it was unexpected that the turnout had made this event too successful that the team handling this event is taking notes.
Toys on Clearance and Discontinuation
Some famous brands made a splash in the last two to three years, and like all toy lines, they must go not because they’re not doing well on the shelves it’s that the distributor had limited access to the product that the toy manufacturer might have decided to limit its release to a select region for their product availability.
There are also toy brands that weathered their popularity, and it was not consistent due to how a toy distributor handled the brand and how the reception is not generally known for the reason why it is going to be discontinued. Some toy collectors think the toys that are sold at Toy Kingdom are directly from the toy manufacturers, but there are a lot of complicated things that go through a certain brand or product for the reason some of them are on clearance.
It needs a deep dive into explanation for some who think that’s how it works. For now, that’s another story to share, and the spotlight is on some of the brand’s discontinuation while there are others on discounted clearance to make way for new toys that are set for another calendar year.
Generic Brands and Merchandise
Besides that toys that are the highlight of this event are on clearance, there are also staple brands that try to be relevant despite a new competition arising for next year that keeps on making “new” characters despite the silhouette of the product is the same, and yet they just tweak to make sure interest in collectivity is still there, and to attract those new consumers they make sure some of the old ones goes on a discount as part of the brand’s overall strategy.
There are also generic products and merchandise to entice and add diverse choices to this year’s warehouse sale, which is another part of this event that you might not see in the next iteration of the warehouse sale. It adds “freshness” to what they can find that others may not find appealing to their interest which makes the collectability of the hobby continue to be diverse and interesting.

The TK Toy Warehouse Sale is circled in the calendar ahead of its announced date as it happens every first or second week of November. It is the event most hobbyists and the whole family look forward to in terms of early Holiday Season shopping in the last sixteen years (including the years the TK Toy Warehouse was not happening from 2020 to 2022).
There will be more where the last few years that this event was not around to give you something to look forward to. Now that it is back, make sure to look forward to it, and if you haven’t heard of this event for this year it happens from 2 to 5 November 2023.
