FIVE THINGS: What to see at Filbar's!

08.03.2013 – If you haven’t visited the new Filbar’s concept store in Filinvest Festival Supermall in Alabang and traveling there is far for you, wondering what they might have can convince you here’s FIVE THINGS that you might be interested.

Seeing this is an advantage for those who are actually based there now in the South now that Filbar’s is returning in a whole new way.

You might find this to be a weekend adventure to check what cool stuff they have in their new shop.

These FIVE THINGS are just random not ranked by demand or “wants” just something that you might not see in other comic shops. This is not the same “must-have” that the store is promoting but close to similar what you should see it there.

Of course the first thing you’ll notice is the store itself which would make you look up the ceiling, which gives you a sense of awe for their creativity in attracting visitors infusing classic scenes from old comic books. It’s a time capsule of memorable moments in American comic book history up there.

Seeing the local comic book industry growing means other shops are getting relevant in giving you choices and as they say “the more, the merrier” and this might be something you might like to get or appreciate to see at Filbar’s.

The Philippine comic book industry has thrived through independent publishing and with the advent of Komikon it gave more exposure to the local scene than ever before.

It produced and nurtured new talents and it’s a great move that the store is promoting Indie Comics and not just the local scene but also other independent works never before seen in other comic shops.

The rising popularity of designer vinyl toys is making a crossover to the mainstream slowly taking prominence in well-established toy stores. But there are some that entirely exclusive that you may not find anywhere that Filbar’s might have like the Funko Pop Vinyl toys that came out in the recent San Diego Comic Con 2013.

Then you have Threadless shirts which boast hundreds of pop culture designs to choose from which is exclusively available at Filbar’s. The US based company only offers their wares online from those who would like to acquire a certain design shirt but thanks to Filbar's you may not worry about shipping it as they may have what you need.

There are action figures but Kaiyodo’s Revoltech line has given a market for good quality articulated collectibles that you’ll probably be tireless in making action poses whenever passes the hours during your down time at work. Revoltech Philippines a growing community who is starting to import some rare exclusives that you may find at Filbar’s surely you haven’t seen Sulley and Boo look this cool right?

You look around and try to find an actual Philippine store exclusive for any collectibles either comics or toys there are none of its kind. Yes there are conventions and store exclusives but they came from the US. Filbar’s HAVE a store exclusive it may be the first that collects allthree books of the Trese series. The supernatural hero adventurer from the brilliant mind of Budjette Tan and innovative imagination of Kajo Baldisimo that was originally released as a compilation between 2008 to 2010 gets re-energized and brought back as a store exclusive at Filbar’s.

Some would disagree and say that it’s not an exclusive but look further an additional change would make the old books look new again with new wrap around art in the form of individual dust jackets plus an official stamp that you can only get it at Filbar’s.

If you haven’t got bitten by your curiosity to read the Trese series this might be your chance to get them as it’s only released for limited time only.

Planning to travel all the way to the south may be worth the trip as the new Filbar’s concept store is now open. There are a lot of things to take notice beside the collectibles and comics it’s also the store itself that might astonish you. The changes begin there and the next store to get a facelift will be in SM Megamall.

But if you can’t get enough of seeing the images online maybe traveling is worth it just be prepared to be greeted by a huge image of Alexandra Trese by Kajo Baldisimo it might convince you to grab their exclusive too.
