New Look Filbar's Grand Opening!

07.27.2013 – Filbar’s is the oldest comic book store in the Philippines established in 1979. It was first started as magazine store that sell selected comic book titles. Fast forward to the present the store is getting a fresh look under new management.

Its first appearance during Summer Komikon 2013 in April was the start of something new. Acquired by a new company all the store branches will have a new look and re-focused towards bringing the hobby in comics, toys, and games to local market.

The new Filbar’s tie ups with Threadless a company based in Chicago Illinois bringing unique clothing line to the store. They also have team up with Revoltech Philippines a community who is focused to bring the collectible action figures to the country.

Of course they are also focusing in promoting the local comic book industry that they provided an indie section which will be part of the template of the new store’s identity. There will be also be US convention exclusive collectibles that will be available. But what makes the new Filbar’s stand out is making their own store exclusive which brings you their first not available anywhere else.

They have the Trese + Filbar’s exclusive that each volume now comes in a dust jacket which is a limited release for those who has not pick up the first three books. Its packaged in a vacuum sealed plastic retailed at PhP 480.00 pesos.

The new concept store has a vibrant “mini convention” feel to it once you enter as it emphasized that IT IS a comic book store. The new look still acknowledges its past heritage but gone are the neon green lights that sometimes was mistaken from another book shop with the same color scheme. This time around it the “Filbar’s” logo floats from the orange and yellow hue background that jumps at you like reading a comic book.

One part of the store is dedicated to a giant Trese art and Budjette Tan was present during its opening earlier today along with the local artists who witness the blessing and ribbon cutting of the new look store.

Each shelf is now dedicated to the merchandise, collectibles and comics. They kept the back issue bins in the drawers much like the ones found in the old Glorietta 2 branch in the 1990s. This time they are dedicated to their regular readers and focused on not only bringing established titles but also independent comic books released in the US and other parts of the world.

This will be Filbar’s first new look concept store and the next one to follow its identity will be the SM Megamall branch. But for now the same company who is bringing back Filbar’s is also planning to open a new store next month dedicated to all Marvel fans out there and it’s going to punch its way to the sound of “Kapow!”

If you live in the south check out the All-New Filbar’s for your comic book needs. For more details of the new store LIKE Filbar’s Online on Facebook!
