Some visual artists may look underrated and often overlooked for their unique and quirky way of crafting a world that a few people can relate to. Creating art is a challenging yet rewarding work if you put it together with sheer effort at the same time intense passion for what you believe in. This is something Reen Berrera has been doing and his creations are slowly getting the limelight that few others still dream of.
If you have followed Reen’s work, then you are slowly getting introduced to these characters one by one they emerge and introduce themselves through his past solo shows and collaboration. |
It’s like the last thing you may find out is the name of the place where they exist something you’ve probably been to before.
“Muscle Land” is a play on words in Filipino sound like “maselan” which might suggest a playful or ironic juxtaposition between physical strength and emotional sensitivity. The solo art show gives you a perspective that highlights how strength isn’t just muscle but also managing and understanding one’s sensitive emotions.
Besides the brand-new artworks and exclusive one-to-one wooden figurines, the artist was present for an autograph signing as recently back in June, Mindstyle launched Reen Barrera’s very own line of art toys under the Collectormates range that also includes Anjo Bolarda’s BITTO characters.
Reen was keen and present with fans who have followed him through his now fledgling career as a visual artist among the pantheons that continue to grow, and still keep a subtle but humble demeanor. In case you missed out on the reception for the opening night of his latest show you can check out the gallery scene below…
