Big news comes for
Iron Man 3, and It appears that the film seeing the return of
Robert Downey Jr. as
Tony Stark/ Iron Man's finally getting a villain to its name. No details on what that role will be for
Marvel Studios and
Walt Disney Pictures' next superhero flick after
The Avengers... but playing it is none other than
Sir Ben Kingsley! Also, new potential plot details have emerged that may make followers of the comics to get excited. Consider this a SPOILER WARNING to all if you don't want to get too much info on where the plot will center over, but it's pretty much a given based on previous reports from the movie. You have been warned, and check away if you're eager to see what's in store for ol' shellhead's next flick!
According to
Variety, Sir Kingsley is set on becoming a villain... But no official word is out yet, and it's not confirmed to be the
Mandarin either. Director
Shane Black will instead focus on a story that's loosely adapted from
Warren Ellis and
Adi Granov's seminal run "
Extremis", which saw Tony Stark literally become the Iron Man after being injected with a nanotech virus he modified that granted him new abilities.
If this is true, then we're about to see the next step of evolution in "Phase 2" of The
Avengers/ Marvel films. Robert Downey Jr.'s going to get the best upgrade ever... and Iron Man will be brought to life in a new way for the
Marvel Cinematic Universe! Kingsley will play a role where he will spread said virus, and we'll just have to wait and see how that goes down when more information becomes available. Iron Man 3 is slated to begin shooting next month, and that's the time when The Avengers rolls into theaters already! For more info on the story, visit
