Check-in at Hotel Transylvania!

09.27.2012 – Hotel Transylvania is a 3-D computer animated film produced by Sony Pictures Animation featuring the voice cast led by Adam Sandler, Selina Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Jon Lovitz, Cee Lo Green, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and David Spade.

The film is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (the creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack) and produced by Michelle Murdocca which is also co-produced by Adam Sandler. The different kind of twist about monsters and other scary creatures being the opposite on who they were sounds interesting.

Like any family story in the real world having the plot for Hotel Transylvania doesn’t deviate from its lessons in life only to be told in a hilarious way for the younger audience to understand. A story of an over-protective father to his only daughter who is growing up must be difficult. But it’s one of the major premises of the story.

The creatures are interesting, funny and have a barrel of laughs to each of its own personality. When you watch it that you’ll never notice who’s voicing who until you catch the credits roll. This is Genndy Tartakovsky’s directorial film debut known for such classics in Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack to name a few of his well-known creations. The art lines and the character’s moves inhibit some elements that we have seen in his creations and it builds the identity of Tartokovsky’s style of animation.

After all, several of the actors, including Kevin James, David Spade, and Steve Buscemi, have known each other for years and acted together in several films, and all were excited by the prospect of working together on a film that everyone in their families could enjoy.

“It really doesn’t happen all that often in animation that you are able to bring your voice actors together,” says producer Michelle Murdocca. “It was really fun to see Adam Sandler playing off of Kevin James, and Kevin playing off of David Spade. It was the beginning of them creating these characters and personalities together – it helped make the characters really funny and really emotional.”

The voice cast is quite interesting that most of them has acted and worked with Adam Sandler’s previous movies that if you have got to watched some of them the chemistry never fails.

The punch line is right at the bat literally. Though you won’t notice Kevin James as Frankenstein or Steve Buscemi as the Werewolf until you noticed their brand of humor. Fran Drescher can’t be missed out with the usual quirky personality she brings in her TV sitcoms like The Nann and Happily Divorced you’ll never missed her taking a different kind of character as part of this ensemble voice cast of monsters.

Adam Sandler takes a different personality as Drakula in Hotel Transylvania which you should rather see that get spoiled at how he approach the Dracula character. The rest of the cast definitely has done great with their characters and how the flow of this movie rolls without a dull moment.

Overall it’s a fun movie that some of the younger audience who grew up watching Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack would notice and acknowledge the style of animation being brought to this film. After all Genndy Tartokovsky directed it and you’ll find Adam Sandler with his friends making this as entertaining for everyone to catch in the cinemas.

Hotel Transylvania opens in 3D and regular theaters on September 28, 2012 nationwide from Sony Pictures Animation to be distributed locally by Columbia Pictures Philippines.
