05.11.2014 – Charlie Adlard, the British comic book artist popularly known for The Walking Dead series with creator Robert Kirkman. He started his work in TWD since 2004 with issue #7 and currently in the Philippines courtesy of Fully Booked.
Its Charlie Adlard’s first trip to the Philippine Islands who arrived Friday, and was at the Fully Booked flagship store accompanied by store CEO Jaime Daez by Saturday afternoon. The event started past 2:10 PM for the Q & A then followed by a signing event at 3:30 PM. |
News on his visit to the country has been revealed during the Art with Heart event last November 2013 for the Yolanda fund raising event. He donated money where the proceeds went to the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
The British gentleman immediately started answering questions thrown at him by Jaime Daez from how he started working in the industry to discussions about the difference between the television series and the comic books.
In-between the lively conversation the revelation about being a drummer in an independent band called “Cosmic Rays” to the interesting trivia that he made a cameo appearance in the pilot episode as a ‘vip’ zombie. Charlie also answered some questions from the audience who were there as early as past 8:30 AM to get a numbered slot for them to have their books signed.
Charlie Adlard signed for almost five hours with one break after Imagine Nation Studios’ Milchy Pe and Lawrence Aliwalas came to give Charlie a zombie bust, which was made in less than 24 hours. Mr. Adlard was quite ecstatic who made zombie sketches and signed graphic novels, compendiums and single issue comic books.
The afternoon had a fine weather where Charlie Adlard arrived with Jaime Daez wearing his hat saying, that he is still getting used to the hot summer. He was very appreciative making the trip to the Philippines. His next stop will be in San Francisco at Big Wow Comic Festival in a week from now.
But before he heads out and if you missed your chance to see Charlie, the last signing event happens later today at 2PM in Fully Booked Alabang. There won’t be anymore Q & A segment just straight forward autograph signing and sketching event.
