Mike Mitchell for those who heard his name for the first time got noticed when he did a painting of Conan O’Brien in his iconic “I’m With COCO” poster. Mitchell will be having his solo show this weekend, which will feature approximately 50 portraits of Marvel characters from the Marvel Universe.
Time featured the man behind these paintings that will be exhibited at the Mondo Art Gallery which includes Marvel favorites and lesser known characters getting a slice of the spotlight. Mitchell is a big Marvel fan growing up reading the comic books and it shows how he is deeply inspired by these characters. With that he shares his passion by showing a different side of each character he painted revealing, that Marvel has fewer archetypes unlike its rival publisher and that makes them more interesting.

Mike Mitchell + Marvel at Mondo Gallery will open on April 25 and will run through May 17, 2014 located at the Guadalupe Street in Austin Texas, USA.
