What
makes Jack Ryan fascinating that he is no field agent. He's an analyst
with a background as a marine. Jack Ryan is no super spy like
007. He's deep involvement in his escapades was circumstantial. It is
also the first time that Jack Ryan was used as a title character. No
Clancy novel ever used a character name as a title.
But
the dangers Jack Ryan faces can be real in the world of espionage. This
shows the human limitations of Jack Ryan in these situations. The last
Jack Ryan movie was The Sum Of All Fears with Ben Affleck as Ryan. It
was intended as a prequel but it never had a follow up after it.
Chris
Pine's performance as Ryan was OK but I cannot help but still see him
as Captain Kirk. For Kenneth Branagh, I am not surprised that he performed well being a villain.
