DCU Rebirth | Supergirl #1

09.08.2016 – “Supergirl” is a month away to its second season and DC Comics is making sure fans who watched the show will get more than seeing her fly off in the small screen. DC’s Rebirth is a great entry point in getting to know the character in comics which also slightly reboots some of them that mirror the up and coming TV series. Though there are not many similarities, if you’ve only seen the show fans that come to adore Melissa Benoist’s ‘Kara Danvers” is great in this one.

No need to backtrack what was Supergirl before rebirth all you need to know starts with issue one. But if you’re curious enough take time to backtrack a bit to find out the questions that would form into your mind about the character and its previous stories that was set before this very issue and how she’s completely different from her live-action counterpart.

DC Universe Rebirth brings back both characters that made Blue Beetle relevant and explores the relationship between Kord and Reyes who both carried the same identity.

DCU Rebirth: Blue Beetle #1 | Double Beetle

08.31.2016 – The “Blue Beetle” has been a popular character after DC Comics acquired the rights from Charlton Comics, which Ted Kord became well known for the readers. But during the ‘Infinite Crisis’ saga Ted Kord was killed by Maxwell Lord revealed to be the man behind Checkmate.

Jaime Reyes took over the identity of Blue Beetle, who would eventually bonds with the ‘Blue Beetle Scarab’, an alien artifact.

DC Universe Rebirth brings back both characters that made Blue Beetle relevant and explores the relationship between Kord and Reyes who both carried the same identity.

But it was unexpected that the story would still focus on the young Jaime Reyes who still possesses the enigmatic ‘Blue Beetle Scarab’ that excites a billionaire technologist like Ted Kord.

The anticipation for Ted Kord to suit up as the Silver Age Blue Beetle was high in this issue, but it focuses more on Jaime Reyes as would say DC Comics’ version of a young wall crawler from its rival publication.

07.6.2016 - In promoting a blockbuster film sometimes movie distributors go the extra mile. It’s either a gigantic billboard or doing something small, but memorable to those who have been aware of the film’s release.

Hal Jordan & the Green Lantern Corps #1 | Forged.

07.20.2016 – Hal Jordan is the greatest Green Lantern of all time, and he has been through a lot. Geoff Johns is one of the best writers in comics who breathe life to Hal Jordan following his fall out as Parallax and becoming The Spectre. Johns gave Hal Jordan his life back through the ‘Green Lantern: Rebirth’ series.

Geoff Johns is connected to Green Lantern as he wrote an entire run about them.

Not only did he write the stories for Hal Jordan, but also the entire world that is one part of the DC Universe and he became synonymous with it until his last story.

There has been writers who took over Johns has he got promoted to DC Comics to head out bigger things. Some new readers would probably go back to the previous books to find out what really happened to OA and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps.

If you’re a casual reader you might not need to as you start fresh with “Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps: Rebirth #1.”

Nightwing Rebirth #1 | The Chosen Path...

07.13.2016 – DC’s Rebirth is about moving forward at the same time taking elements of its proud heritage for their characters and continues to make them relevantly fresh. For Dick Grayson’s case it is the next chapter in his life being the original Robin and then becoming a hero on his own as Nightwing that made him known. Then he became Batman twice inheriting the mantle from Bruce Wayne was a tall task.

In his recent adventure he became a secret agent of Spyral, but for those new readers they would be having a difficult time going back to the books how he became Agent. The short story is he was unmasked on television so they have to ‘kill off Dick Grayson’ and that was almost two years ago with the apparent demise of the Nightwing persona up to the part Rebirth came.

Now DC Comics is brining back the character to his roots and the return of Dick Grayson as Nightwing. But how that happened was not explained in this book, but it says that ‘his identity was restores’ making it ‘secret’ once again. In this issue Dick Grayson is back in Gotham hangingout with Damian Wayne. There bits and parts of the scene also shows his last mission as Agent 37.

Wonder Woman #1 | The Lies...

06.21.2016 – Wonder Woman is set to celebrate 75 years and the Amazon Princess is set to get her first solo film in 2017 as portrayed by Gal Gadot who already made her first screen debut in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” early this year.

Perhaps it was also what made that film something to cheer about. In the comicbooks DC has put a creative team post-DC Universe Rebirth that would clear things up about her origins. Greg Rucka and Liam Sharp were announced to be the creative team to handle the series with Frank Cho as their variant cover artist.

There’s optimism with everything DC Comics has been doing for the past month launching DCU Rebirth with Geoff John at the helm and bringing a promising creative team for Wonder Woman that surely making things slowly interesting as this is something new for those former and new readers to follow up on the adventure of Diana Prince and her friends.

The first few pages are stunningly impressive and Liam Sharp who is probably the right man to handle the art choirs...

Green Arrow #1 | The END

06.19.2016 – Benjamin Percy and Otto Schmidt has their hands full being the creative team to usher “Green Arrow #1” post-DC Universe Rebirth. For those who haven’t been reading about the comicbook series that inspired the CW show, this one is a great jumping point in reconnecting with the character.

What Oliver Queen is to this new series is not just some vigilante who uses a bow and arrow it’s about the life he’s going through while living as the protector of Seattle. After DCU Rebirth things are going back the way fans have gotten used to. Black Canary as per partner and love interest but with a fresh perspective.

The romance is there include the action and the interesting story which beings with “THE DEATH AND LIFE OF OLIVER QUEEN” Chapter One.

There are new challenges and Benjamin Percy takes inspiration from former writers of the series like Dennis O’Neil and Mike Grell, while trying to make the series his own is pretty much a huge pair of shoes to fill as the series writer.
