But what put him in the map in the international scene was “Elmer” that was originally published in four separate issues that was compiled into a trade paperback edition.

08.29.2019 – There good storytellers out there inspired by superhero tropes and thematic adventures from Science Fiction of Fantasy, and then there’s the slice of life that you may or may think it’s just another graphic novel about the usual dramas of the human condition that most deal every day. But there is also this graphic novel “Please Take Care of My Heart” that looks innocent featuring two lovers on the cover (or so you think). Gioseppe Custodio suggests that it’s an introduction to how he started in the local independent scene of Filipino Komiks at the same time to familiarize his art style and his sense of storytelling, which generally his portfolio that rarely noticed by most indulging on the more established authors and illustrators. “Please Take Care of My Heart” seemed like taken from pre-existing romantic themes from the Philippines as Filipinos get most of the TV novels of ‘telenovelas’ inspired from the boom of the Spanish TV Dramas.

05.21.2019 – There have been so many illustrated/visual abstract stories that don’t define by panels of tradition comicbooks, but convey more about what the author is trying to say in these published works. Zyterical Sea is one of those books that are making their narrative through no specific layout or process of panels that tell the whole story. It’s mostly wordless illustrations and sometimes combined with poems and prose. The independent self-published works that thrive with Filipino Komiks genre is expanding that thought through illustrations in a different way in telling a story. Originally released in Komikon 2017 there was not much noise when it became available, but through word of mouth from friends and fellow creative it gained traction behind the scenes that had people praising this as one of the best works to come out that express emotion through its art

Sights & Highlights: Trese Night Gallery Launch!

10.28.2013 – Trese Night Gallery’s official unveiling is also the launch of “Trese Book of Murders” collecting all thirteen chapters of the original run. It’s the compilation of the first three volumes which was published by Visprint Inc. The graphic novel is released in the American size comic book format with some of the pages re-drawn and printed in the highest quality. It was held at the Crucible Gallery featuring art works by Kajo Baldisimo which is his first ever solo show.

The World of Sonny Liew's Malinky Robot!

09.26.2012 – Malinky Robot is an adventure of two street urchins in Atari and Oliver which collects five stories by Eisner-nominated artist Sonny Liew (My Faith Frankie, Wonderland, Sense and Sensibility) set in the near future of San’ya. The moment you open the first few pages of the graphic novel it takes you this world where these two kids journey in these five stories that Sonny Liew shares compiling the short stories of Stinky Fish Blues, Bicycle, Karakuri, New Year’s Day, and Dead Soul’s Day Out.
