Playmobil the Movie | Robotitron

07.08.2019 – Playmobil has been around since the early 1970s and used to be a rival of another construction toy brand. The past couple of years Playmobil starting to ramp up with their product slowly acquiring licence properties that made them relevant again with the acquisition of Ghostbusters and How to Train Your Dragon.

This August 2019 they’re set to bring the brand further with the upcoming Playmobil the Movie, now that the toys tied to the animated feature film has started to appear in Southeast Asian stores there are some favorite characters already making the rounds in group forums namely the silent Robotitron!

When you’re pushing to promote the film merchandise is just behind its machinery and with Playmobil the Movie headed to cinemas there will be favorite characters in the film that collectors and fans will look forward to acquiring.

The latest toys from Playmobil the Movie features sets and vehicles that appear in the upcoming film. But what makes it more appealing are the Playmo Figures that makes up the interest and for that Playmobil also produced a blind packed series featuring the main characters that have Marla, Charlie, Del, Rex Dasher, and Robotitron.

There are twelve figures for Series 1 and possible more to come, but for now this set features the main starts of the upcoming film. Among the main characters featured in the blind back packaging is Robotritron and there’s not much about this mechanoid than meets the eye, but collectors who found out about this set can’t get enough with Robotitron in their discussion and here’s a close look at this character figure.

Robotic in Many Pieces

Robotitron is not hard to feel out in finding out if you got him in the blind pack as having a cylindrical body is an obvious giveaway. But once you get to open the packed there you’ll find A LOT of parts made from this non-humanoid character.

So far the movie trailer doesn’t much reveal anything about Robotitron other than this little machine accompanies Marla in search of his brother Charlie along with the Food Truck driver named Del and that Secret Agent Dex Dasher.

This figure composed of 20 plus parts when you open the bag to put Robotitron together. There have been other robots that Playmobil has produced but this might be the most interesting one to date having so many parts from wheels to legs, arms and an interesting head.

Serving for an Adventure

Besides putting together Robotitron this bot also comes with a tray, two glasses, and a bottle. This shows that Robotitron is a bot that serves drinks, but as mentioned there’s not much about this character other thn an interesting aesthetics how Playmobil design Robotitron with this interesting combination of blue and orange colors.

This would probably the first time Playmobil ever included a non-human Playmo Figure to the blind pack series as previously had included aliens and monsters of humanoid form, which makes Robotritron a sought after favorite.

When you put this bot together you’ll be surprised that they include an extra pair of eyes that are the same as the one used for this figure. Beside that it includes a sticker of the character and the manual/character checklist if you plan to complete a set.

Finding Worth in a Robot

The question here is if the blind pack is worth investing? The regular blind pack series from Playmobil was originally sold at PhP 179.75 pesos going back to the time LAJ Marketing was the country’s distributor after they handed over to Ban Kee Trading its rights to be its current distributor, which as of 2018 has bumped the price point to PhP 199.75 pesos which was just affordable enough.

When the new blind packed series based from Playmobil the Movie started appearing this one priced at PhP 299.75 pesos, which close to the price point of the current LEGO Minifigures Series. For a regular consumer it is a bit high for a non-licensed series since it is based on the in-house brand, namely the Playmobil brand.

Not all of the characters in the list are interesting enough to have a complete set. This depends now on a Collector’s preference. Not everyone is into completing a set, but the main characters are an interesting one as they’re the ones appearing the packaging of the product its up to those interested enough to get them all.

Overall Robotitron is a unique character on its own to merit an interest for the community that are into Playmobil. But for the entire set it now depends on who would only pick the ones they like and the ones who would get them all. But Robotitron is in the conversation as one of the favorites now due to the film’s upcoming release it will depend on who you really like more. Bottom line is the price point and f you’re into robots this guy is your bot to find and best of luck if you do.

Playmobil the Movie Series One Playmo Figures is retailed at PhP 299.75 Pesos distributed locally in the Philippines by Ban Kee Trading Inc and now available locally in retail stores nationwide. This was acquired at Rustan’s Department Store at Edsa Shangri-La Mall. For more about Playmobil Community in the Philippines LIKE Pinoymobil on Facebook!

  1. This Robotitron is actually a direct reference to a classic Playmobil set from the 90's, 3318.

  2. And of course, the Robotitron serving drinks is most likely a reference to a similar scene onboard Jabba the Hutt's skiff in "Return to the Jedi".
