Marvel Avengers Movie Series: Captain America Shield Launcher

Presenting Captain America (Shield Launcher) from the Marvel Avengers Movie toy series. If you read our review of the Avengers Goliath Assault Tank, then you've already seen this figure replacing the crappy Captain America that accompanied it.

In a nutshell, this is the modern adaptation of the movie-based Captain America as it will appear in the upcoming Avengers movie. As you may recall, Captain America's original costume - not the pansy one he wore while selling war-bonds - was born out of the 1940s. They obviously thought that he needed an up-grade and here he is.

As with his 1940's movie costume (Though he kept losing his helmet), this modern uniform is closer to the Ultimates Captain America uniform (By Brian Hitch) than to Captain America's uniform in the normal Marvel Universe timeline.

Green Lantern Sinestro

Presenting Green Lantern Sinestro from Series 5 of DC Direct's Green Lantern toy series. If you've been following the cartoon, then you know that following the results of the War of the Green Lanterns, Thaal Sinestro was chosen by a Green Power Ring - that has since resisted all efforts to be removed (Even by the Guardians) - and has been reinstated as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 (Earth) replacing Hal Jordan whom the Guardians had perceived as the greatest threat in the Universe (Despite having saved their asses again) despite massive protests from the rest of the Green Lantern Corp.

Since then he's been bothering Hal Jordan and doing things that Hal Jordan never even thought possible - like creating what appears to be a semi-permanent construct Power Ring for Hal Jordan; creating temporary power-rings for at least fifty trapped Korugarians; Using his Lantern as a flying battering ram to kill a member of the Sinestro Corp and to free him from prison, and; Stating that he has not once, but twice destroyed a power-ring through sheer will - a fact that Hal Jordan did not think possible, failing to remember that Ganthet - the Guardian of the Universe who had stepped down to become a Green Lantern - had done just such a feat recently (Though it cost him a hand).

DC Comics to release #0 issues for New 52 Anniversary

Come September, DC Comics will be celebrating one year of it's launch of The New 52 Universe, which practically rebooted its entire comic book universe and gave a fresh new take to most of its character roster. To commemorate the occasion, the publisher will be releasing a full wave of #0 books of each of their titles, with adventures that precede and take place before the actual events that occur in the #1 issues. Regular numbering for all books will cease that month, and will resume once more with #13 on October. As these books will detail origin stories and flashbacks, it sounds very reminiscent of DC's "Zero Hour" event back in the 90's, which bore a similar marketing strategy that aimed to attract old and new readers into the fold. Whether or not this plays into current events, including the impending 2013 event "Trinity War", remains to be seen. For more on the story, visit the source post at Bleeding Cool and Comic Book Movie.

Expect the New "Zero Hour" 52 to hit all issues of DC Comics in September!

The Avengers Comic Series: Ultimate Hawkeye!

04.20.2012 – Counting down to The Avengers film is a few days away for its Philippine screening. Several movie houses have reserved their special midnight and block screenings. The toys and other merchandise has been sprouting all over the place with special promotional tie-ups that has kept the anticipation alive.

For some casual fan only a few knows about the key characters that will be in this summer blockbuster flick. You got Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and The Hulk as your heavy hitters. But what about second stringers like Hawkeye and Black Widow?

Cosmic Spear Loki - Avengers Movie Series

Presenting the Cosmic Spear Loki from the upcoming Avengers Movie toyline. If you saw both the Captain America: First Avenger and Thor movies, then you saw the Cosmic Cube that was wielded by the Red Skull as nothing more than a destructive power source (Which, if you follow Marvel comic book lore which may not be true for the movies, is a drastic under-use of the powers of a Cosmic Cube), and you saw Loki (Played by Tom Hiddleston who reprises his role in the upcoming Avengers movie and reportedly will again play Loki in Thor 2) fall from the heavens to Earth.

Well now Loki has the Cosmic Cube and this time it's in the hands of someone who knows how to use it - and he put it on the tip of a really cool spear that would fit right in with the Lord of the Rings. Hasbro has captured the villain that forced the assembly of  Earth's Mightiest in an action figure heralding the launch of the movie in May (Base not included)

Now via Bleeding Cool, concrete details have finally emerged, and it's packed with SPOILERS. God Of War: Ascension info and trailer goes online!

Anyone who owns a Playstation and knows the name Kratos certainly knows God Of War... And now news has leaked that will excite those itching for a return to bloodbath and action gaming galore!

When we last left the man also known as The Ghost of Sparta, Kratos destroyed everything and took out just about everything standing in his way in God Of War III for the Playstation 3. Following that, another prequel was released for the Playstation Portable, God Of War: Ghost of Sparta, which added another layer of tragedy and conflict to his story. Now, people are waiting for God Of War IV... But there has yet to be an official announcement for that sequel. However, a new trailer has popped up, as well as details for a new game: God Of War: Ascension. It is indeed the newest chapter of Kratos' journey... but it looks like another prequel.

Rumor: DC Comics planning "Trinity War" event on 2013!

It's a trending topic in the rumor mill currently, and various sources like Comic Book Movie and Bleeding Cool are reporting it.

Apparently, DC Comics is planning a major event/ crossover next year called "Trinity War", which is rumored to focus on a division and eventual battle between the publisher's big three icons, namely Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. It sounds very reminiscent of Marvel's own 2006 - 2007 crossover series "Civil War", which saw the hero community split and forced to choose a side over the passing of a Superhero Registration Act. The consequences of this event divided the Marvel Universe greatly and changed it for a number of years, and now the same may happen to the DC New 52 Universe with their upcoming 2013 crossover. Until official word comes from DC itself, consider this a rumor at best... But it definitely gets the blood pumping for fans who want to see a throwdown between the Trinity and their allies! G.I. Joe Renegades Law & Order

Presenting Law & Order from the G.I. Joe Renegades toy line. As I write this review I can't help but hear the gavel sound effect from the Law & Order TV series - that I really love - every-time I write the words "Law & Order".

So these are actually two characters. Law is Officer Christopher M. Lavigne from Houston Texas, and; Order, a German Shepherd - it must be weird to give orders to Order.

In the comic-book time-line, Law & Order worked originally for the Houston Police Department before deciding to enlist - I'm not so sure he should have been able to take Order with him - because he wanted more fulfillment. They became a Military Police K-9 unit and trained with the Airborne - the modern American Military uses K-9 units in active combat roles as well, a K-9 unit was included in the SEAL team that took down Osama Bin-Laden..

Law would rise to become head of security for the G.I. Joe team.

Movie Review: Titanic in 3D

I've never seen the original release of "Titanic"; Not once during its theatrical run in 1997, or even its eventual release in home video. I've caught portions and snippets of it now and then through subsequent showings in HBO and other movie channels, but I've never been able to sit through the movie as a whole, much less show an appreciation for it other than the historical significance of the real-life incident the film is based on to the world. However, as luck would have it, the film has come back to theaters, and it comes during the centennial year of what is still considered one of the biggest and deadliest maritime disasters known to mankind ever.

As of this posting, April 10, 2012 marks the 100th year anniversary of the Titanic's maiden voyage, and to commemorate the occasion, 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures have re-released James Cameron's epic piece to the world once more, fully converted and remastered to 3D. Following the success of his 2010 flick Avatar, Cameron spearheaded this conversion from the original, hoping to give audiences a breathtaking new look at one of Hollywood's biggest films and the highest grossing film of all time. After a year of adjustment, "Titanic in 3D" set sail into theaters on April 6, just a week shy from the anniversary that bore dreams and tragedy at sea. Being a 15 year old movie, does this rerelease hold up and still manage to captivate audiences like before? Find out in this review coming from a first time viewer. Special thanks goes out to Fox Philippines and Ayala Cinemas for the screening!

The Avengers: New clip debuts featuring Maria Hill and Nick Fury!

With just a few weeks to go before it gets released in theaters, the hype and excitement for The Avengers is getting bigger and bigger! With that said, Cinema Blend has posted up an article which features a clip from The Late Show with David Letterman, where Cobie Smulders was featured as guest! Those who have been following the news on The Avengers knows that Ms. Smulders plays Agent Maria Hill, and this clip gives us a good look at her character, featuring a discussion between her and her boss Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) during a tense situation at S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters! SPOILERS here of course, so view at your own risk!

Iron Man 3: Ben Kingsley is your villain and more on the plot itself.

Big news comes for Iron Man 3, and It appears that the film seeing the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/ Iron Man's finally getting a villain to its name. No details on what that role will be for Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures' next superhero flick after The Avengers... but playing it is none other than Sir Ben Kingsley! Also, new potential plot details have emerged that may make followers of the comics to get excited. Consider this a SPOILER WARNING to all if you don't want to get too much info on where the plot will center over, but it's pretty much a given based on previous reports from the movie. You have been warned, and check away if you're eager to see what's in store for ol' shellhead's next flick!

Margie Cox - Star Sapphire

Presenting Cosplayer Margie Cox as the Star Sapphire. A few weeks back when we reviewed the  Star Sapphire , I got into a discussion over the practicality of the  Star Sapphire 's costume.

I mentioned in the discussion that I actually knew - rather followed - one of the more popular Cosplayers made famous for her portrayal of the  Star Sapphire but for the life of me at that time I could not remember who it was.

I finally had time to look for her last night and I found her.

Her name is Margie Vizcarra Cox, from Atlanta Georgia. She's the Coordinator of the Local Branch of Heroes Alliance of Atlanta. Google Star Sapphire Cosplay and you'll find tons of her photos in the infamous pink body-suit - though she also does a mean Catwoman, She-Hulk  and Wonderwoman.
