Sights & Highlights: JP Cuison's Misplaced!

10.10.2013 – JP Cuison has worn many hats as a “Komiks” artist, animator, and member of a former band with Kiko Machine, Gorgoro Henson’s voice, and the guy who created Filipino pop culture posters under his Gigzilla production.

He’s done it all and remains grounded to his roots and never forget his beginnings as a struggling artist. JP Cuison has a mini-art exhibit which is “Misplaced” and you might not have figured it out that Apol Sta. Maria and Mannix Abrera was behind this idea but you’ve come to the right place.

Inspired and motivated to create the craziest works of art that people would never forget. It’s all about JP Cuison’s passion for creativity that drives all these successful endeavors and is always hungry for new ideas.

JP Cuison has crossed the borders of a “komiks” artist to doing something with contemporary art or simply related to the urban lifestyle that is slowly getting noticed in the collective minds of word of mouth.

The concept of Misplaced definitely will confuse you that include the featured art pieces and the name description tags as well as the large tarpaulin that had the header of Apol St. Maria and Mannix Abrera as the featured artists. You won’t find JP Cuison’s name on the huge poster but definitely wicked to find yourself lost or literally misplaced.

Besides the launch of the art prints featured JP Cuison is selling each of the five prints numbers 55 pieces each for PhP 1,500.00 pesos ($ 34.90 US dollars) which is selling like hot cakes during the launch.

The event is backed by band performances The Oktaves, Moonstar 88, Turbo Goth, Sando, JP Cuison & Apol Sta. Maria Band which includes a surprise performance by Ely Buendia. Buendia (former frontman for Eraserheads) also join in to jam with JP as the last set of the program that ended past midnight. JP Cuison’s success continues with the success of his latest solo show.

JP Cusion’s art is something easily connected with the people who first saw komiks in “Punnx Komiks” which lasted in two issues that was sold out during the early years in Komikon when it was held in UP Bahay ng Alumni. He admits Jack Kirby as one of his favorite artists which reveals the way the colors and anatomy of his art was inspired from.

He admits being truly blessed getting his art known was truly hard work at the same time employed in an advertising firm. Humbled with a talent for the art clearly does not show that JP is misplaced but was at the right place who took advantage of the situation.

“Misplaced” will be on exhibit for two weeks at the 2nd level where Pocket Universe Art Gallery located in SaGuijo + Bar Events, Makati City.
