Fall of X | The Closing of Planet X Comics

By now the news will be all over the place that local comics shop Planet X Comics will be shutting its doors by the first of January 2024. It has been internally announced toward the end of October 2023 that it will no longer have a physical presence in its current form. It took a while for the announcement to make it official, but here it is from the management. For those not from the Philippines, Planet X Comics is one of the small businesses catering to comic books and graphic novels as well as collectibles and merchandise that has been around as far back as 2007.

11.29.2019 – The Holiday Season hasn’t begun but in North America they’re celebrating the season of Thanks Giving. Of course, the Philippines is all about that too but in the context of Black Friday Sale some establishments do try to put up their sale. In the case of Planet X Comic Shop they’re gearing up for the Pre-Holiday Sale. Unrelated to the above mentioned American Holiday, this is currently happening today up to this weekend. It is also the right timing for Salary Friday as this at the same time a year end sale for the store. It is going to be another eventful busy weekend that you might want to drop by and make the visit if you must take advantage of it.

Super Manila 2019 | Preview Sightings

10.18.2019 – The weekend is ready and set for Super Manila the debut of a new event in collaboration with Comic Odyssey and Filbar’s bringing an artist-centric event that will be graced by Whilce Portacio and Leinil Francis Yu that also feature local artists who worked with foreign publishers that also produced their works. Today was the first day as there’s not much scheduled activities, but in case you haven’t had thought of any plans for the weekend this might be the place to bring your friends and family meeting your favourite illustrators as this preview to give you an idea what’s inside the debut year for this event…

11 Years of Planet X | There's Comic Gems in this Planet

09.28.2019 – Saturday was another busy weekend most notably for the staff and crew of Planet X Comic Shop that celebrated its 11th year and still one of the destinations for comicbook readers and walk-ins yp get their comicbook fix. The celebration features four Philippine-based artists that had done work for American publication like DC, Marvel, Image and more. Besides that the store had tons of activities that started the day right up to the closing mall hours of Glorietta as everyone is still enjoying the time hanging out at the shop.

09.24.2019 – Before the month of September ends there’s one more celebration happening this weekend. Although it’s not a big scale it is all about supporting your local comic shop big or small as not only it helps you pick-up the hottest titles each week, but also promote the comic shop itself. For eleven years Planet X Comic Shop has served comicbook fans, collectors, and would-be new readers. In their own little way they are there supporting the ever growing comicbook community and for this weekend maybe it’s your turn to return the favour as they set have that celebration…

FCBD Philippines | Is Reading Relevant?

05.06.2019 – Twelve years since 2007 Free Comic book Day in the Philippines has gotten bigger than anyone have imagined. The lines have gotten longer the crowds become massive that there’s a fine line there between which actually reads and those join in just because the word has something to do with “FREE.” In this generation of digital age the lingering question if there are still people really reading these type of medium? FCBD is considered “the Christmas for Pop Culture Nerds” no doubt the crowd would be there for pageantry.
