Fall of X | The Closing of Planet X Comics

By now the news will be all over the place that local comics shop Planet X Comics will be shutting its doors by the first of January 2024. It has been internally announced toward the end of October 2023 that it will no longer have a physical presence in its current form. It took a while for the announcement to make it official, but here it is from the management.

For those not from the Philippines, Planet X Comics is one of the small businesses catering to comic books and graphic novels as well as collectibles and merchandise that has been around as far back as 2007.

Planet X Comic Shop | 2019 Year End Sale

11.29.2019 – The Holiday Season hasn’t begun but in North America they’re celebrating the season of Thanks Giving. Of course, the Philippines is all about that too but in the context of Black Friday Sale some establishments do try to put up their sale. In the case of Planet X Comic Shop they’re gearing up for the Pre-Holiday Sale.

Unrelated to the above mentioned American Holiday, this is currently happening today up to this weekend. It is also the right timing for Salary Friday as this at the same time a year end sale for the store. It is going to be another eventful busy weekend that you might want to drop by and make the visit if you must take advantage of it.

Adelaide Comics Centre Moves to New Location

01.13.2017 – Adelaide Comics Centre was one of the two stores featured in 2015 that carry American produced works and also locally published serials featuring The Phantom, the pulp hero that was considered the hero ahead of Superman. The shop however is moving to a smaller venue and had announced its closing the old location.

The shop has been around since 1989 and would currently be the oldest around Adelaide in South Australia. Now they are moving in a smaller store inside Adelaide Arcade. It’s been a while since the last visit there, but here’s how they look now…

Discover Adelaide's Two Comic Shops!

01.06.2015 – Last year during the trip to South Australia there was a chance to explore the city of Adelaide for comic shops in the area. So far there are two that were spotted within the vicinity of Rundle Mall that can tell its popular culture scene.

Comparing it to the Philippine comic book scene the shops are like any other ordinary store in South Australia fairly conservative much like the American counterparts. But further look into the shops as explored during the last week of December 2014.

New Comic Odyssey at Fully Booked Promenade!

12.16.2013 – If you’re a comic book reader and probably lives in the area of San Juan in Metro Manila, chances are your options to pick up a new title has not been limited for the need to travel great distances. The options to picking up your pull list have been closer to home now that Comic Odyssey has finally opened its fifth branch at Fully Booked.

It’s the third shop opening inside Fully Booked this time at Promenade in Greenhills. The store opened last Friday and still filling up stocks of neat stuff at the new location. It’s an early Christmas treat to regular customers who lives in the area.

FIVE Things at Filbar's SM North Edsa!

10.31.2013 – Filbar’s at SM North Edsa has a simple blessing and cutting of the ribbon. This is their third unveiling of their store and second Filbar’s that had a new look. The first one introduced a new-look concept store last July at Festival Mall in Alabang.

Under Collecticons Inc. they opened another store which is the first ever Marvel shop known as “Kapow Universe” which can only be found in the Philippines. Then earlier today they finally have opened another Filbar’s store at SM North Edsa…

New Filbar's Shop Opens at SM North Edsa!

10.18.2013 – Filbar’s new branch had a soft opening last Wednesday. This is their second store carrying the new identity and colors under new management from Collecticons Inc.

The same group who opened Kapow! Universe last month which is the first ever Marvel store in the Philippines. The newly opened Filbar’s store is located before you can reach the Skydome and you’ll not miss which is beside Manny Pacquiao’s specialty shop. The first thing you’ll see is the Hounds Helmet from the Games of Thrones.

New Look Filbar's Grand Opening!

07.27.2013 – Filbar’s is the oldest comic book store in the Philippines established in 1979. It was first started as magazine store that sell selected comic book titles. Fast forward to the present the store is getting a fresh look under new management.

Its first appearance during Summer Komikon 2013 in April was the start of something new. Acquired by a new company all the store branches will have a new look and re-focused towards bringing the hobby in comics, toys, and games to local market.

Comic Odyssey Robinsons Place moves to Kiosk!

10.22.2012 – Comic Odyssey’s original flagship store at the Robinsons Place Manila in Ermita had a weekend moving out sale that started last Friday of October 19, 2012 and all items are on a 50% off.

As you all know this particular branch has a history which began its life in 1997 at the old location where Fitness First is currently residing.

This store relocated to the current location back in 2005 which is now about to be relocated to a smaller kiosk.

Comic Quest in SM North Edsa now on its new location!

03.12.2012 – If you happen to be in the area of Quezon City chances are you’re a frequent mall visitor of SM North Edsa. Surely if you’re a comic book reader you might be a regular at Comic Quest which is one of the oldest shops in the business who still brings the latest titles on the shelf.


They are also into selling other merchandise such as toys, collectibles and exclusive action figures. This also includes imported shirts and special edition never released DVDs or Blu-Ray discs in the Philippines. If you frequently travel less to these parts of Quezon City try to check the CQ branch.

Comic Odyssey Unveils its New Location!

03.05.2012 – Starting March 1 Comic Odyssey will now be located at the lower basement level in Robinsons Galleria. The store which originally opened October 2006 has been planning its move to its location for the past four months.

The move was done during the night of February 29th and they are still moving the remaining stuff from the old place at the third level. The new location is far better with well lighted ceiling which is very high to have the perspective that the place is far bigger but actually its almost the same size as its original place where they located six years ago.
