There will be a bunch of talented comic artist guests at this year's Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention (STGCC), who call the Philippines their home.
Marvel artist Harvey Tolibao will definitely be heading to STGCC again this year. He was chosen to draw the iconic Merlion variant cover for "Captain America #1" (by Ed Brubaker and Steve McNiven). Of which, only 500 copies will be made available each day from the Marvel booth at C6. Harvey will be busy doing signings at the Marvel booth on both days.
Harvey will also be releasing has his first and very special limited edition art book called “Viscocity” during STGCC. This collectors' item is in full-colour, includes a 16.5 x 8.5 fivefold spread cover and features pages of the best and most popular comic book characters drawn by Harvey. Something not to be missed by Harvey Tolibao fans!
Then, there are fellow Marvel artists Stephen Segovia and Carlo Pagulayan. Stephen has worked with various publishers including Top Cow's "Tokyo Knights" and Dynamite Entertainment's "Battlestar Galactica". He recently worked on Marvel's "Ultimates vs Ultimates Avengers" with famous Filipino artist, Leinil Yu. By the way, Leinil Yu has been scheduled to do a panel at STGCC, but there have been no other mention of his other possible participation in other convention events.
Carlo has his art featured in Marvel's "Academy X", "X-men Unlimited" and "Planet Hulk". He is also recently got into sculpting and is currently working with Bowen Designs to release a Planet Hulk mini bust.
Featured at booth E22 with exhibitor Elseworlds is another Filipino artist, Mico Suayan. Mico has gained a great deal of popularity with his work on Marvel's "Thor", "X-Men Legacy" and "All Winners Squad" (Captain America). Not only will be doing signings and sketch requests at STGCC, he will be releasing his own exclusive sketchbook, limited to 500 copies only.
These are definitely exciting times for Asian artists indeed. There are more talented artists from Singapore, Indonesia and other neighbouring countries who will also be at STGCC - mostly in their own booths at Artists' Alley or being featured with exhibitors like Elseworlds or Harris Planerds.
If you can't make it to STGCC this time round, don't worry. Red Dot Diva will be there to get the scoop! So keep an eye out for her posts at Geekmatic or stalk her over at her own Red Dot Diva blog!
