I really did find it a lot of fun to take control of this pontificating windbag in a video-game.
Though to be honest I felt like Starscream was running around like someone had kicked him in the gonads in the FOC videogame - but he did have such a happy "Mario Brothers" gait - I suppose with Megatron "Dead" and the entirety of Cybertron at his feet, he had a lot to be happy about.
But I have to say he was dreadfully difficult to fly - or maybe it's because you spend so much time playing as a first person shooter, that suddenly switching to a flight simulator type game makes it difficult.
Still really cool.
The Fall of Cybertron Starscream's blister card reads: "There was a time when Starscream was an honorable (Really? Who would have thought that?) soldier who fought for the defense of Cybertron. But long isolation aboard an orbital platform made him greedy and ambitious. Given the opportunity to once again lead troops, he gladly joined Megatron."
It really is hard to imagine Starscream as ever being an honorable soldier given that a) he's a coward! He'd sell all the Decepticons for more power. It's also really hard to imagine why anybody would actually want to follow Starscream - knowing that he'd probably shoot you in the back if he had to - either again for personal gain... or just for fun.
What's to like about the Fall of Cybertron Starscream?
STARSCREAM LOOKS INCREDIBLE!!!!!
I daresay that he's the most accurately built figure to come out of the Fall of Cybertron video-game - down to the wide gap between his legs. I'm really, really fond of him in robot mode - albeit his weapon leaves much to be desired. FOC Starscream comes with what looks like an X-18 Scrapmaker, but it's not quite that. Personally, I'll continue to go try to find Nucleon Charge Rifle.
But I do like that the Scrapmaker can be placed on any of the most generously allocated mounting studs on FOC Starscream's body.
AND FOC Starscream has a third mode that's a nod to Macross/Robotech:
What's NoT to like about the Fall of Cybertron Starscream?
Well I have to say that I'm not really fond of FOC Starscream's plane mode. Not just because he's quite simple to transform, but because.... well if you've played the game then you know that there's a "normal" plane mode, and there's a "Boost" plane mode, and while I have reviewed other Fall of Cybertron and War of Cybertron figures who all should have the normal and boost modes, somehow Starscreaming not having one just didn't seem right.
Add to that the fact that the Scrapmaker again looks horrible.
Fall of Cybertron Starscream looks better without it:
This particular Deluxe edition Fall of Cybertron Starscream was purchased from ToyKingdom here in the Philippines for PhP 699.75. Starscream is available on Amazon for US$ 27.28 (Roughly PhP 1,118.48 plus shipping).
The windbag is worth it :)
