Comic Signings | Dexter Soy & the Fansiders

05.19.2019 – Comic Odyssey is on the roll during the past three Saturdays events with FCBD on the rear view and the successful launch of the “New Agents of Atlas #1”, which is a tie-in for the War of Realms saga that launched not only new characters that would represent Asian heroes, but a special variant cover featuring Wave.

This time of course is the support to Filipino artists making waves on his own and that is illustrator Dexter Soy, who has been consistent work at DC Comics’ Red Hood and the Outlaws continues with the debut of Batman and the Outsiders #1!

For those who haven’t heard Dexter Soy found success when Marvel’s CB Cebulski discovered this talented individual through social media almost six years ago and ever since then he has been hard at work with projects from then House of Ideas and now with DC Comics latest series.

The special signing event is rare occasion for Dexter as he is based in Pampanga which is almost a two hour drive to Manila. If you’re taking a public transportation that would a few hours more, so this is a special event not only to him but those who has followed his work ever since.

That Extra Dexter Soy-sauce

What makes Batman and the Outsiders #1 special is his ever evolving artwork. From manga-style are Dex has found a style that makes this series even more visually impressive to read as well written by Bryan Edward Hill. The signing event is also a celebration to the artist success in continuation project with DC Comics.

Of course, the signing event gets to meet the artists and have a limited sketch work for the fans. The artist reveals his excitement working for this project and hoping it will be the same level of work that he did previously as the artist for Red Hood and the Outlaws that time featuring the Dark Knight himself.

Going Truly International

With the good news for Dexter working on more DC Comics projects he also revealed that he will be migrating to the US too. This will be Dexter’s last local appearance as he will be flying off to San Francisco, California where his parents’ lives there at the end of this month as his Manila-based fans where surprised with this news.

Surely, Dexter’s US-based fans will get to meet him there once he’s settled. The signing event was also a going-away gathering for the artist and was appreciative for the support for the past years since working with Marvel that he was also the artist behind the introduction of Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel in 2012 with Kelly Sue DeConnick as one of his career defining highlights in the comicbook industry.
