Happy Meal Spotlight: TMNT 2012!

11.05.2013 – McDonald’s in the Philippines released the Teenenage Mutant Ninja Turtles based on the hit show from Nickelodeon. This was released together with the promotion for Strawberry Shortcake.

The four turtles were originally released in the US last year with alternate versions of the characters in their motorcycles but was not available in selected parts of Asia.

Taking a closer look at these turtles is as close to their animation counterpart.

You got Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo to round up the team featured in their action poses. These figurines features action moves by a push of a button located at their shell backs. The characters depicted in their colored coded manhole cover stands but not removable was anyone thought.

Each character featured has their signature weapons and by a touch of a button they are ready to strike the Foot Clan or the mysterious alien Kraang.

The four turtles are packaged in different in plastic bags of different sizes and Leonardo had a bigger bag while Michelangelo was packed in the smallest. The sculpture though not great or even the paint still looks better.

For a Happy Meal toy they stand out for those who grew up with the original cartoon they will get a kick at nostalgia. This is not the first McDonald’s released the TMNT as a promotional item. The previous animated series had TMNT and was released in the mind-2000s at the same time came up with promo for Happy Meal. When it was released in the US the Happy Meal box was tailor-made for the toys.

Unlike in the Philippines when they still use the same box, that was released sine two months ago. But it’s still all good to enjoy having a Happy Meal with a box, but for how long will they stick to the same design that leaves the question McDo PH can’t say.

The TMNT Happy Meal toys are not as attractive for any serious fan, but gives chance to the young kids who can’t really afford the action figures. And for the adults who are casual fans who just takes them back to the time they enjoyed seeing the cartoon.

Overall it’s great for display having all four turtles to collect standing beside their action figure counterparts doing those impossible action poses gives a challenge.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles promo at Happy Meal is still available in McDonald’s in the Asian region. For details check the nearest McDonald’s store for their availability.
