Alicia Vikander is 'Lara Croft' in Tomb Raider Reboot!

04.29.2016 – MGM Studios, Warner Bros, and GK Films has finally found their ‘Lara Croft’ signing Alicia Vikander, who recently won the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actress in the ‘Danish Girl.’

The Swedish talent best known for her critically acclaimed performance in “Ex Machina” portraying a cyborg takes the reigns to portray ‘Lara Croft’ after Angelina Jolie starred in two films adapted from the popular videogame.

Vikander who also starred in the classic spy film revival of the “Man from U.N.C.L.E.” in 2014 was named as the lead actress to portray the popular ‘Tomb Raider’ character in the upcoming reboot which tells the story of a young and untested Lara Croft fighting to survive her first adventure. Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is directing this film and Graham King is serving as producer.

MGM and Warner Bros are co-producing the film with MGM overseeing production. They acquired film rights from GK Films, which had previously purchased film rights in 2011 from Square Enix LTD.

This will be Alicia Vikander’s highest-profile role that every actress has been sought after with names like Daisy Ridley, Cara Delevigne, Emilia Clarke and Saoirse Ronan all rumored at some point, where she finally signed in as a deserving portrayal. Before you see Vikander take the lead in this film her next film will be the fifth Jason Bourne film opposite Matt Damon.
