| 07.21.2018 – Adelaide’s Video and Game Festival (AVCon) on its 16th year continue to expand and cultivate the culture of anime and videogame community in South Australia at the heart of Adelaide with special guests and surprises. It is one of the biggest events in this region.
This year presents the best of cosplay, talented voice actors, and passionate indie game developers that you don’t see in other region. Opening highlights was packed that also have the Lord Mayor with his remarks how it gives a community a diverse group of people and for the reason why AVCon is the best place to be. |
Friday night was presented not only passionate anime fans and anything related to Japanese Culture you get to see everything that Adelaide has to offer including participating local shops and visitors for all over the region that also include foreigners who continue to support this annual event since 2002.
But the beauty of it all is the memorable night featuring the guests as introduced to the people who had access to the opening ceremonies that also includes special performances from anime and cosplay communities.
This year also a welcoming surprise as Hybrid World Adelaide held its second year from 2017’s Tonsley venue to just next door to AVCon, which means double-does of spectacle in one major venue that is the Adelaide Convention Centre.
AVCon Opening Highlights
Usually, this has become part of AVCon to commemorate the opening of the event and the start for this year. The line-up of guests features Spike Spencer well-known English voice for Shinji Ikari of Evangelion and Neil Kaplan recent voice actor for Netflix Voltron as King Zarkon.
The best scene from the opening night is Neil Kaplan in his Black Lion onesies that was given to him by a fan. There was a live theatre drama featuring Pikachu and a slew of characters as well as a light show dance number.
Not to forget earlier introduction also have Cosplay personalities featuring Major Sam Cosplay, Beke Cosplay, Vera Chimera, and Knitemaya gracing the event for those who follow the community. After the opening night it follows a special screening of Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One.
Hybrid World Adelaide Neighbor
What’s the best part in Adelaide everyone supports each other and if you’re seated with strangers you get to meet everyone with a smile. This is evident when a representative from Hybrid World Adelaide was present to invite visitors also to drop by their exhibits which also feature local LEGO® community SBLUG (Southern Bricks LEGO® Users Group) with their local exhibit.
Beside that science related and interactive programs that everyone can participate and be part of the event too. There is no entrance fee for HWA and AVCon is also supporting their neighbors to come and visit their show how good is that?
This night is to remember not to miss out in visiting AVCon to meet their guests as well as participating exhibitors at the same time check out Hybrid World Adelaide to appreciate the future technologies were both events are held at the Adelaide Contention Centre in downtown Adelaide.
