Paddington is well-known in British Literature first appearing in the children's book "A Bear Called Paddington" and has been featured in more than twenty books written by British author Michael Bond and illustrated by Peggy Fortnum and other artists since 13 October 1958. The character hails from Peru with his old hat, battered suitcase, duffel coat and love of marmalade that is always polite.
There has been a lot of merchandise based on Paddington and appeared in two theatrical live-action films that will have a third film and a brand new television series that will be launched this year. Paddington may not be that popular in some parts of Asia but the polite bear is slowly catching up into the mainstream.
Bearbrick 39
This is something of a surprise that MediCom Toy included Paddington in the 39th series of the popular blind box figurines along with Harley Quinn from Birds of Prey and T-800 from Terminator Dark Fate to name a few interesting characters in the line-up. But Paddington is suitable character for Bearbrick since he’s a bear as the other characters sometimes don’t look the way they are using the bear template.
The textures from the figures vary as well as the character’s aesthetics as Paddington’s texture is more matte and not shiny as the other figures. It appears his signature blue trench coat is part of his body as well as his brown hat. You’ll find the comparisons with the other variations of the bear template in other characters make Paddington even more stand out.
A Bear as a Bear
The Bearbrick has limited points of articulation but enough to make good poses, but what makes it interesting is Paddington Bear using the Bearbrick aesthetics makes the character appears to be an inception of everything about being a bear. Kidding aside, it looks good to see Paddington in a designer art toy.
Overall simply not the rarest character in series 39, but if you have seen the movie of have read the books you know who Paddington bear is. Now that he’s coming up with a new movie and television series MediCom Toy certainly has put this very polite bear into a bearbrick collective consciousness so happy hunting my friends!
