Secret Fresh | GORI: Dawn

GORI is a Filipino artist and has been part of the Street Art community as a member of the Pilipinas Street Plan, he moved to the US now based in Phoenix, Arizona. He now returns to the country for his first-ever solo show in a long time. His signature works continue to be known globally with his “Gorilla” character. This is going to be another impressive art show as Secret Fresh is one of the galleries, where GORI started with his fellow PSP contemporaries growing up, and expanding his brand to the US also led him to collaborate with the Phoenix Suns after the team made it to the NBA Finals in 2021. This time, it is all good to be with GORI!

The relevance of Street Art Culture has changed in the Philippines, and those who continue to stay true to their core to what they‘ve been from the start are truly genuine in nature. Trip63 has been supportive of the grassroots organizing events like the Meeting of Styles and representing communities like Pilipinas Street Plan. This low key visual artist shines and still carry that street smart, but humble demeanor often unnoticed and unappreciated for his contribution to the culture. But this time this is his spotlight through his sixth solo show for Secret Fresh who deserves every accolade being true to himself.

Diecast cars have been around and considered every kid’s first toy, which make sense why there’s a very large community who are so passionate about collecting them. Some would be interested into this hobby, since they can’t afford the real one. Plus, diecast cars are affordable that they are a diverse models based on the real cars. For those passionate enough, some would venture into experimenting and customizing and that is where a new community begins. “Hidden Fortress” is a two-man show at Secret Fresh Gallery as part of this year’s Art Fair Philippines as one of the participating local galleries, which features Egg Fiasco and QUICCS representing the street art culture as well as a power house world class visual artists that has been collaborating with well-known brands. As individuals, both men have made a name for themselves crossing over from artists painting walls to producing never before exclusive collaborations that also produced their own branding in the international scene.

Secret Fresh + Jade Suayan | Warped Heads

The local art exhibitions are slowly opening and bringing back visitors to their art galleries. Secret Fresh is back and is opening a line-up that includes the return of Jade Suayan with her second solo art show titled “Warped Heads,” which features some of the head characters she has put together that are either distorted or… ‘Warped.’ Jade’s second go around having her sophomore exhibition is not as extravagant or taking up space of one of the gallery sections. Still, it is poignant to relate how post-pandemic must be for artists to take inspiration and how the world appears to be warped in all the things happening in the last two years.

It can be animation, film, or a particular food you might have been devouring when you were younger. And then there are also TV commercial based on products that made them popular. You have grown in the 1990s then you might recall a lot of great things from this era and one comes to mind is this popular character that was put together by two creative women.

Secret Fresh + SpongeBob | CT's Sponge Boy

Closing out the collaboration between Secret Fresh and SpongeBob to celebrate its twentieth anniversary is the much awaited and anticipated works from Christian Tamondong. This collaboration has been laid out that featured artists in a group show followed by solo show with Ronald Ventura, and finally with Christian Tamondong. The SpongeBob event is not just a solo art show, but also a launch of clothing and apparel collection and exclusive toys that featuring Christina Tamondong’s works. It was unexpected changes to the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic that there was no artist reception but the gallery was unveiled.

03.04.2020 – The Bearbrick Series of Blind box figures continue to push on with unique designs, concepts and partnership with some of the brands in the industry. There’s no doubt it is not something for everyone. But for those into the designer art toy and anything that is visually stimulate art it is a collectible worthy of attention. Currently, the Bearbrick minifigures that comes from the mystery box is on its thirty-ninth edition that was released in 2019 and there’s a new batch coming out sometime in this year. For now here is a special spotlight on one of the mystery figures and that is the delightful Paddington!

03.02.2020 – tokidoki (“sometimes” in Japanese) has become a global brand and collaborated with iconic brands that put Simone Legno’s works in the map as produced into an apparel, clothing, footwear, and accessories. He’s been to the Philippines several times to promote his brand or just for a visit. This recent Sunday was the newest collaboration with Secret Fresh, but this time around it is not only featuring his works as part of the exhibit. It is considered a triple launch of partnerships between the art gallery and tokidoki to bring something new that is an exclusive.

Secret Fresh + Jade Suayan | Walls Could Talk

01.20.2020 – Secret Fresh and its featured artist Jade Suayan has a huge turnout this past Sunday as her first solo show has launched entitled “Walls Could Talk” featuring eight colourful and impressive art pieces that also includes one bicycle installation that makes the Gallery B look like it has transported you to another realm. The purple dominated gallery that features all of Jade Suayan’s neon colored creations dominated this side of Secret Fresh that feels like you’re transported from her perspective of how this world exist and the setup is certainly one of the best yet for this first time solo art show that also looks like from an animated universe.

Secret Fresh + GRAFFLEX | Hidden Planet

01.07.2020 – Korean-based visual artist Grafflex unveiled his best work to date at the Secret Fresh Gallery last Sunday. The main gallery became his own exhibit and for the next two weeks his works will adorn the area while you either make the visit or dine in at the in-house restaurant. There’s so much takeaway from his special solo art show and this is his first in the Philippines. This is definitely one of the best shows coming out from Secret Fresh Gallery and besides that the man is present to entertain you.

12.22.2019 – When Street Culture collaborates with Oriental meets Technology Lifestyle and you have yourself the best of both worlds when it comes to apparel and clothing, which is the latest trend in mixing art with fashion that could probably pioneered by Secret Fresh in the country. They’ve been slowly becoming the game-changer not only in the art scene but also in the lifestyle culture melding ideas at the same time having fun while appreciating the simple things in life. Now, they team-up with SNK ATK Design Lab which is a new apparel & clothing company that combines Japanese fashion with Technology.

TAPh: Toy Festival 2019 | Custom Dunny Show

12.17.2019 – Toy Art Philippines’ Toy Festival 2019 was off to a great weekend with some special activities that were not official listed as part of the event. But the major highlight that made this year special is the custom Dunny Show, which was sponsored by kidrobot that featured 25 local artists in the country in this impressive gallery. For weeks each featured artists who was part of the Custom Dunny Show has teased their projects via social media. It was a great line of talents that was collated for this year’s featured theme. Each Dunny has a story to share and it was most notable part of TAPh that has been announced prior to the reveals.

Toy Art PH | Toy Festival 2019

12.16.2019 - Toy Art Philippines brought they’re ‘A’ game to the second annual Toy Festival held once again at Secret Fresh’s Sixinch Gallery over the weekend that featured some of the up and coming toy customizers in the country as well as a plethora of awesome Art Toys and also apparel that slowly defines the community. Besides the independent vendors and customizers there is also a special Artist Talk that features a video interview with Superplastic’s Huck Gee and Paul Budnitz. It was not only focusing on the designer toys. But to see the community beyond the social media, which is also a meet-up to get to know everyone.

12.09.2019 – Contemporary Art scene is evolving in the Philippines with that the constant change is also the evolution of the talent that is put out in local galleries across the country mostly in the heart of Central Luzon, where most of these art spaces can be found as one of the melting pot for this type of venue. Toy Art PH 2019 | Toy Festival is Back!

12.04.2019 – Toy Art Philippines (TAPh) Toy Festival is back! Now on its second year the premiere event that is all things Art Toys is bigger announcing its first designer toy exhibition. The Dunny Custom Show is a part of TAPh2019 and it will exhibit custom pieces by 25 local artists exclusively in this event. The art toys exhibition will be held at the Six Inch Gallery of Secret Fresh, Ronac Art Center, San Juan City, Philippines.

12.02.2019 – Hari Sonik has made a triumphant return to Secret Fresh in style of what Elmer Borlongan aka Emongsky has put a stamp on his signature creation through his latest Solo Art Show last Sunday among the featured contemporaries that includes Philippine National Artist BenCab. Borlongan is very much familiar to Secret Fresh who has his first Solo Art Show dating back to more than six years ago when he first introduced his original version of “Hari Sonik” creation as well as his other art pieces. The new look on Hari Sonik with a life size installation spinning as a DJ coupled with new paintings was certainly Secret Fresh!

11.18.2019 –There are deep narratives that define a contemporary art nowadays with inspiration taken from popular culture namely in science fiction, videogames, and even in comicbooks. There’s a rich world out there that aspire to take up a pen and write it or even illustrate them in your own perspective. This is the case with Keb Cerda who recently had an opening night for his solo art exhibition at Secret Fresh. Most of the artists featured usually have their own vision and story to tell, but Cerda defines his work through this elaborate world filled with ideas that was inspired from the genres mention and it had a lot of visceral imagery.
