DLD Tribute: Mr. Spock Rememebred (1931-2015)!

Captain Spock has sadly indeed gone to explore the final frontier (Leonard Simon Nimoy - March 26, 1931 - February 27, 2015). At 83 Terran years of age, Captain Spock, now Ambassador Spock, finally succumbed to end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and his two children: Adam and Julie. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We will always remember him as one of the best - if not the best - Captain of the Enterprise.

We're consumed with grief right now, but even with his death find ourselves comforted by Captain Spock's words from Wrath of Khan:

Spock:  "Do not grieve, admiral. It is logical. The needs of the many outweigh ..."
Kirk: "the needs of the few,"
Spock: "Or the one ..." I never took the Kobayashi Maru test, until now... What do you think of my solution?"

Spock: ""I have been and always shall be your friend. Live long and prosper."

His soul was indeed the most "human."

Alley Cat: Alley Baggett

Presenting Alley Baggett AKA Alley Cat. This is a rare but sadly not so valuable action figure of a character from a comic book (Entitled Alley Cat) that sadly only had six issues - 8 if you count the prelude and the Lingerie Edition waaaaay back in 1999 - though the actual character appeard in around 15 issues counting other comic books.

Are you still with me or are you staring somewhere else?

What's so interesting about this figure - and character - is that she's inspired by a real person: Alley Baggett, an American glamour model from Houston Texas supposedly of Spanish and Filipino descent

Zoids: Red Horn

Presenting another relic pulled from the basement of the Dungeon, a Zoids Red Horn.

I remember kids watching the Zoids cartoon and hear them blurt out that the bad-guy rides a Triceratops. I just rolled my eyes and wondered what kids were being taught now in school. The Red Horn is clearly not a Triceratops - to begin with, it only has one horn - it's a Styracosaurus - a single horned dinosaur with a flaring armored crest.

And I've always liked the Red Horn - even if he is a "bad-guy" zoid. It's tough: well armed for a close-up fight and heavily armored - particularly up in front.

So I'm kinda disappointed that they constantly portray Red Horns to be such whimps in the cartoons. It's reputation in the Battle Story series is much, much better. There it's almost unmatched.

Toy Review: Zoids Blade Liger!

Presenting Van Flyheight's Zoids Blade Liger from Zoids: Chaotic Century and Zoids: Guardian Force.

People have been posting photos of various Zoids on the Facebook pages that I hang out in so I thought that I would take out some of my Zoids from storage and present them.

I'm honestly not a fan of Zoids. I just enjoyed how they looked, the fact that they could move and the fact that you had to assemble them by hand.

My greatest Zoid treasure is actually the Liger Zero - which barely beat a Blade Liger in the cartoons - because I really love how the armor can be swapped out with the parts of other Zoids to boost its capabilities. Unfortunately, my Fire Phoenix and my Jet Falcon are deeper in storage than I expected. It'll take a while.
