10.16.2013 – It’s been 75 years and the first ever superhero celebrates his milestone. The popular character created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel who first appeared in Action Comics #1 takes flight with this DC animated short. This particular animation was directed by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) and Bruce Timm (Superman: The Animated Series) collaborate which was also produced by Warner Bros. Animation!

11.08.2012 – Early today Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures released an official press release for the next superhero movie from DC Entertainment which is “Man of Steel” which starts Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman. The official statement that the “Man of Steel” will be released in 3D in select theaters, as well as in 2D and IMAX®, so fans of the iconic superhero will be able to experience the much-anticipated movie in their format of choice.

Ben Affleck in talks with WB to helm "Justice League"

Much news has been going around for the superhero movie industry. After Marvel and Disney confirmed that Joss Whedon would be returning to direct the Avengers sequel and help work on the untitled TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as well as signing an exclusive deal that keeps him with the studio until 2015), Warner Bros. is stepping up their game by approaching a known director and actor to helm their much awaited Justice League film. That man is none other than The Town director Ben Affleck, who himself played a superhero in the form of 20th Century Fox's 2003 film adaptation of the Marvel Comics superhero Daredevil. The studio has already hired Will Beall to write the script, and now talks are to bring the Academy Award and Golden Globe winner on board to take on DC's finest team of superheroes.

Attached together with "The Dark Knight Rises" in theaters, the teaser trailer to Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman film franchise "Man Of Steel" has finally made its way online. If you haven't seen it, be sure to check it out below. Note this is different from what premiered in the San Diego Comic-Con. Still, it's a teaser, and epic to see and watch.

Over at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. has introduced fans to a generous offering of a teaser trailer, exclusive poster, and information on Zack Snyder's upcoming 2013 Superman reboot flick "Man Of Steel". The poster shows a full upper body shot of Henry Cavill as Superman, with shadow covering his face while the "S" emblem is predominantly seen. It's a solemn and silent look at the DC Comics' superhero, and one that reflects what is sure to be a more serious take on the character come next year.

Man of Steel Official Synopsis released!

Warner Bros. has released the official synopsis for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, which is entitled "Man of Steel". The film is currently underway and casting calls have been given out in locations in Vancouver Island. Here's the official synopsis below:

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”


From the way it reads out and as noticed by many who share like minded views, the plot sounds awfully like the recently concluded Smallville TV series, which explored Clark Kent's early beginnings and eventual transformation into the heroic icon known as Superman (though that 10 long seasons to fill out, and much of the things depicted there looked more alternate universe-like than actual canon). It'll still be almost a good two years before we see this film in theaters, but it will be interesting nonetheless to see what Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan do with this iteration of the Man of Steel, especially with the notable casting decisions made (particularly Perry White being played by Laurence Fishburne). Rumor: Is this the "Man of Steel" Teaser Poster?

Like Comic Book Movie, I'm adding this to the rumor mill.

What you see here is what's being claimed to be THE "teaser poster" for Warner Bros. next Superman reboot flick, tentatively titled "Man of Steel". After weeks of big news highlights from the Zack Snyder directed film that includes Laurence Fishburne being cast as Perry White and the first official photo of Henry Cavill as Superman, this "teaser" shows up and is making the rounds in the interwebz. Despite the somewhat convincing layout and Batman Begins inspired set up, I'm not 100% about this at all. Judge for yourselves whether the "Grounded" inspired shot works as an official tease. SDCC '11: Man of Steel pushed back to 2013

Why am I not surprised by this piece of news?

In a sudden turn of events and via a post at Comic Book Movie and tweet at Variety, Warner Bros. has officially announced that Zack Snyder's reboot of Superman, Man of Steel, will be delayed and not meet its 2012 release. The Christopher Nolan produced movie, which has Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane, has been pushed back from December 2012 to June 14, 2013. How and why hasn't been exactly explained yet, but this was tweeted and announced at the middle of the San Diego Comic-Con, so explanations and updates will be coming shortly.

Honestly, I much prefer the delay since it will give the filmmakers enough time to make a damn good Superman movie and just not rush into it. If rewrites and delays in production are the reason, so be it. At least we get The Dark Knight Rises, Spider-Man, and The Avengers next year! Movie news blog site Movietimez has featured the first official photo from Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot flick of the Superman film franchise, Man of Steel! In it, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams are seen for the first time as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, sharing an awkward moment that has the Superman's civilian self placing eyeglasses on his fellow Daily planet reporter and love interest! Legal troubles threaten to divide Superman franchise...

This is both old and new news to hear about, and it will certainly affect the future of Superman in a big way.

As was reported by Variety, Slash Film, and Screen Rant, the ongoing legal battle between DC Comics and the estates of Superman's creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, may reach a point where both parties may have to split and retain certain rights and key elements to the character. What that basically means is that if things do not work out and both parties do not mutually agree to something, we may see the division of Superman entirely. He won't be wearing the iconic red, blue, and yellow costume everyone knew and grew up with due to copyright issues, and his origins may have to be changed somewhat, at least in the case of DC Universe that is. The phrase "Leaping Tall Buildings In A Single Bound" was coined by the creators, so that will go along with the costume baggage should a separation take place.

In essence, if all of this comes to pass where the respective rights revert back to their creators in 2013 (a year after Zack Snyder's Superman movie "Man of Steel" shows) we may see the birth of two distinctly different versions of "Superman". The Siegel and Shuster's estates own pretty much what makes up the original Superman when he debuted in the pages of Action Comics in 1938. DC still owns international rights, flying, and the villains attached to the character, so there may not be any obvious changes for the modern incarnation at least. However, anything new conjured up will set up grounds for another case again, and it limits both parties from exploring the alter ego of Kal-El/ Clark Kent in many other ways. Amy Adams is Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's Superman Reboot!

Fresh from her appearance in the award winning 2010 boxing flick "The Fighter", it appears that Amy Adams has landed herself another big supporting character role, this time as the love interest of Clark Kent/ Superman, Lois Lane, in Zack Snyder's upcoming 2012 reboot of the Superman film franchise!

According to a post in the LA Times' Hero Complex and Enewsi, director Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. have chosen Adams as their woman to play the top female ace reporter from the Daily Planet, who makes it her mission to follow and write stories based on the Man of Steel's exploits, eventually becoming involved in Superman's life personally and romantically. The news is kinda ironic when you think about it, seeing as Amy Adams worked with Christian Bale in The Fighter, and the English actor plays Batman in the Christopher Nolan Bat-flicks! This is big news indeed, and with names like Henry Cavill as Superman, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, this may be the biggest Superman movie yet! Crusader Movie Review: Sucker Punch

It's hard to imagine that I finally got to watch this, but now that the curtain has been drawn and I have seen the premiere, I can officially sum up Warner Bros. latest action flick offering, Sucker Punch, in only a handful of words - Intense. Nauseating. Wild. Fun. Fanservice. That's just a poultry selection of what a chum like me can say after walking out of the film in one piece, and believe me, there's a lot going for this crazy chick action flick that's directed by Zack Snyder, the guy who gave us the Dawn of the Dead remake, 300, and Watchmen. Before I get into my review proper, let me just warn all of those peeps out there prone to seizures - there's TONS of flashy lights and shaky camera work that'll either leave you mesmerized or barfing away, so be on the safe side and heed the warning I give you today.

Movie: Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch is ambitious; Possibly one of the most ambitious films I have ever seen to date in my history of movie watching. There's a ton of references, both sub contextual and intentional, that will make the average viewer giddy or annoyed, depending on their stand towards various pop culture genres like Anime, Comic Book stories, Video Games, and Movies. The film clearly is an amalgamation of these three, and it happens to be Zack Snyder's latest offering on the Hollywood plate; An original one at that that takes his style of film making and meshes it with a bizarre storyline that can be perceived as both senseless fun or visual artistry. Set in a 1950's styled era, the movie focuses on a young girl named Baby Doll, who is sent to a mental institution by her cruel and manipulative stepfather. Losing everyone she loved to tragedy, Baby is forced to rely on her imagination, which carries her away from the pain and into a world she can manipulate and move freely in. After befriending some fellow inmates and meeting an old man inside her dream who has shown her a way to get out, Baby and her new friends must channel their minds and act within the boundaries of reality and fantasy in order to set themselves free.
