
| 06.19.2011 - The closing day of the 10th Philippine Toys, Hobbies, & Collectibles Convention aka (Toy Con) has the most attendance earlier today.
The last day would be considered the biggest crowd to packed all three Megatrade Halls now that cosplay groups have come to Toy Con. So far the attendance from yesterday was more than last year. This annual event has become bigger than ever with its flair and the best to come out in the oldest convention in Asia. |
The movers and shakers of the Philippine Pop Culture community is here. The entertainment extravagant was the Cosplay Nation, a movie being shot on its first leg in the Philippines, and the next one will be in the upcoming San Diego Comic Convention.
Toy Con won't be without the panel discussions featuring some of the toy collectors in the ilocal industry.
There were also band performances by groups, who are passionate in promoting Japanese Pop and Korean Pop to the local scene. There were also contests for Best Diorama and Toy Photography aka Toy Clicks that has been running since 2007.
So far, this year since 2009 the local group representing Transformers Philippines has not organized the High Speed Transforming Contest. This is due to the packed programs and the scheduled panels have been already set for the weekend. Originally, they planned to have it this year, but the event happening on both Toy Con and Cosplay Nation has taken the stage and it won't happen anytime soon.
The Transformers Trivia contest was held early in the morning hosted Collectibles Unlimited Toy Con co-organizer Cholo Manlillin, while a TF Custom tutorial by Juan Dela Customs was scheduled to happen in its place on stage.
The dealer area is still packed as usual with the happenings and dropping of prices, since its Closing Day, which really was the most interesting time for anyone who really wanted a last minute shopping.
The Gallery area, where the invited local Toy Groups that had their own displays has a lot passres by looking at the creative set up displays. Yesterday had some well known local personalities had visited that particular area.
Toy Soldier 118's diorama has been the main attraction in that area taking centerstage set up in the Colletor's Exhibit. So far, it's the most visible piece of display that has quite an interaction to everyone's delight.
Local cosplay group going as the Justice PH, which was newly formed overnight rpresenting as a cosplay group was present, and getting aa lot of fan appreciation from the day they suit up all the way back to the Cosplay Nation as their introduction. They also visited the DC Comics Licensing Event at the basement level of SM Megamall near the aream, where the old skating rink used to be located.
With all the pageantry of cosplayers, this shapes and sizes of personalities is in full force. The event was spectacular in every sense of a word. For Toy Con 2011, this one was a celebration of mixed cultures, and inspiration for all nerds out there that its okay to be one.
You can't wait until Toy Con 2012, as this event arrives as the event as the anniversary year that began in a tiny room at the Mega Conference Room on October 2002. The biggest event convention in the Philippines has conquered 2011 and will head to next year!
