ToyCon 2012: Day One Recap

Mid-June saw pop culture and hobbyists in the Philippines converge, as the 11th installment of the Philippine Toys, Hobbies, And Collectibles Convention ushered in a long weekend of fun and excitement. The event officially opened to the public last June 15, and focused solely on a special "Retailer's Day" for collectors and buyers to take advantage of. It was also the first day to get a glimpse of almost everything the event had to offer, including a school of toy displays and Warner Bros. official booth promoting "The Dark Knight Rises", with the original Batsuit worn by Batman actor Christian Bale on display! ToyCon 2012: Friday Retailer & Saturday Event Highlights!

06.16.2012 – The Philippine Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention (Toy Con) which is the biggest local sellers show in the country opened its doors to the public for the highlight show which featured band performances, celebrities and cosplay. There where selected major highlights on this event besides the appearance of Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao who have been present annually to grace the biggest retailer's event in the country. The added surprises for this year are mostly from the local cosplay scene which has been part of the event since they adapted this as an attraction in 2003.

ToyCon 2012: The Dark Knight Rises Batsuit on display at the Warner Bros. booth!

On this year's installment of The Philippine Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention, Warner Bros., DC Comics, and ToyCon PH have teamed up to present fans of all things Batman with a special treat - the official replica of the batsuit worn by actor Christian Bale in The Dark Knight/ The Dark Knight Rises! Starting today June 15, the suit will be on display to the general public, located in the TDKR booth provided by Warner Bros. Philippines! Anyone looking forward to Christopher Nolan's epic final chapter to The Dark Knight legend will surely want to check this out, and I myself have had the opportunity to see it personally, as pictured below!

BeatCast! Podcast Ep. 1 - A Popculture News Mess!

Arising from the depths of darkness, Timzster and Cerbojam return to BeatCast! It's been a long time since the last podcast session, and the boys kick things off in high gear by discussing all the latest news and highlights from the popculture spectrum! With all the blockbuster movies out now in theaters, Tim and Mark give their impressions on Michael Bay's final Transformers movie - Transformers: Dark of the Moon, as well as discuss the mixed reactions surrounding DC's latest superhero material adapted into film, Green Lantern! They also look back at this past June's 10th Philippine Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention held at the SM Megamall, and give their thoughts on that two day event as well. With the impending release of the final Harry Potter movie and Captain America, as well news and buzz from this year's upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, the BeatCast! guys tackled a lot of topics on this session, so go and give this episode a listen!

Closing Day: The Philippine Toys, Hobbies, & Collectibles Convention!

06.19.2011 - The closing day of the 10th Philippine Toys, Hobbies, & Collectibles Convention aka (Toy Con) has the most attendance earlier today. The last day would be considered the biggest crowd to packed all three Megatrade Halls now that cosplay groups have come to Toy Con. So far the attendance from yesterday was more than last year. This annual event has become bigger than ever with its flair and the best to come out in the oldest convention in Asia.

06.17.2011 - The oldest convention in Asia is back to celebrate its 10th year. The Philippine Toys, Games & Comic Convention aka Toy Con is breaking new grounds this June 18 & 19 at all SM Megatrade Halls and the line starts at 10AM. So better purchase your tickets as early as the mall doors open.

06.19.2010 - The Philippine Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention or simply called "TOY CON" had made another box office hit in 2010. With the success for this year, where other Asian countries try to catch up where no fan had gone before. A resounding huge reception in the region, which reminds us how successful the San Diego Comic Convention was big in the US. Kids of all ages up, teenagers, nerds, fans, and, even parents had the opportunity visit SM Megamall's Megatrade Hall 2 & 3 to see the extravagance of Toy Con. Every year, it gets bigger than ever before as the Philippines pop culture scene had made geekerie as the norm.
