| 06.18.2011 - The opening day of the 10th Philippine Toys, Hobbies, & Collectibles Convention aka (Toy Con) had the biggest first day attendance. The ribbon cutting was graced by ABS-CBN talents, and escorted by the Pinoy 501st Legion the local group of Stormtroopers in the Philippines. |
Main cosplayers representing the movies from Green Lantern and the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger.
The Opening host for this event was headed Collectibles Unlimited by co-organizer Cholo Manllillin on stage who introduced ABS-CBN talents Martin del Rosario, Zaijan Jaranilla, and the lovely Lauren Young.
On stage as well was Cosplay Nation who's first leg is Toy Con before moving to San Diego Comic convention this July.
Cosplay Nation is produced by two Chinese directors filming cosplayers all over the world in their movie project. This will feature two of China's well known cosplayers and the Philippines' Alodia Gosiengfiao.
On the same day after the first introductions on stage there where performances and mini-trivia games.
Near the stage 99.5 RT had their special car the RT Ford Fiesta. They are currently running a contest, which you take a photo of the car that your in it and tag it at their Facebook page. You will win the exclusive Ford Fiesta 1:18 die cast car.
Of course for those looking forward to the upcoming movies in the next few weeks the Solar-UIP booth, which features the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Solar-UIP tapped Transformers Philippines and Pinoy Toy Kolektors to do an exclusive display as well as Wilson's Customs.
They also had some of the rarest Captain America display from Francis Barredo's personal collection also at the Solar-UIP exhibit booth for the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger.
Warner Bros. Picture Philippines teamed up with DC Comics Licensing, which featured SM's Boys/Teens Wear in promoting Green Lantern.
The Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Part 2 had a display courtesy also of Warner Bros. Pictures Philippines, and it features some of the movie props which includes the clothes worn by the actors in the film.
Towards the end of the first day there where awarding for individual cosplays, and other contest being run that day.
If you had your chance to see this year's dealers area we highly suggest take precaution. You might loose your valuables as the isles are literally packed.
All of the dealers can be found at Megatrade Hall 1. Previous Toy Con has a fair share of losses occurred due to theft or pick pockets. So please be alert when your in that area, and its not about loosing money due to a lot purchases.
The second and last day will be more crowded due to the cosplayers packing the 5th level of Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall.
