The Tale of Two Snow White Films.

03.01.2012 – This year two movies will be shown with a bit of similarities but told in different perspectives. What I’m talking about is the upcoming “Mirror Mirror” from Relativity Media and “Snow White and the Huntsman” to be released by Universal Pictures.

These two movies had both heroines in Snow White and the arch nemesis is the Queen who can’t get enough vanity without asking her talking mirror “Who is the fairest of them all.” Of course there will be untold adventures of romance and the stuff fairy tales stories are made of.

For years Snow White’s stories has been told in many versions since 1812 by the Brother’s Grimm, but the most popular of them all was the first Walt Disney animation that was shown in 1937. It gave Disney a critical acclaimed story that made them is the company today. There were several versions of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves that it’s getting two new movies coming out this year.

First up is the “Snow White Project” titled Mirror Mirror which stars Julia Roberts as the queen set to be shown this March 16, 2012 in North America from Relativity Media and directed by Tarsem Singh. Lilly Collins plays Snow White and based on the trailers that’s been out this was told in less serious tone.

Julia Roberts as the queen is quite intriguing being known to play in Tinker Bell in Hook back in the 1990s she takes the character and makes a diva out of her. The movie is more focused on her queen persona than the main heroine in Snow White which is definitely something to catch in cinemas. There’s got to be a new wrinkle in there that you should see this film.

Snow White and the Huntsman take a different tone more like the Red Riding Hood film of 2011 which stars Amanda Seyfried. This Snow White is more like the 1999 film “The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc” but with the fairy tale element. Snow White in this film has Kristine Stewart the love affection of a shiny vampire and hunky werewolf in the Twilight films. Of course we got Australia actor Chris Hemsworth who is widely known as the Mighty Thor in the upcoming Avengers and Thor 2 films.

The queen Kristine Stewart’s Snow White is up against is Charlize Theron which I find it more villainous compared to Roberts portrayal in the later. The movie won’t out until June 1, 2012 and the promotion for this film has been out since mid-year of 2011. To our surprise we’ll be getting two Snow White films and that’s a rarity to get know each version starting this month and the other in three months.

All we can say is waiting and anticipate how both films fair well in cinemas but most likely the marketing for Snow White & The Huntsman has been going around but coming across Mirror Mirror was quite a surprise we’ll be seeing two Snow Whites and lets see who are the fairest them all.

Mirror Mirror opens across the Philippines on March 30, 2012 which stars Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as Prince Andrew Alcott, and Nathan Lane as Brighton, the Queen's major domo to be distributed by Relativity Media.

Snow White and the Huntsman open in Philippine cinemas on June 1, 2012 which is directed by Rupert Sanders, starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin from Universal Pictures and to be distributed locally by Solar Entertainment.
