| “Diko Alam” is two words formed as a ‘pun’ playing off the name of the artist “Diko” and the Filipino word “Alam” meaning ‘know’ turning it into the phrase in English “Don’t Know” as the title of his latest solo art show featuring Gabriel Tiongson aka DIKO or collectively known as DIKO ART, which is his second show following a Two-Artist successful collaboration with Mimaaaaaaaaw last September of 2024 at the Grey Space Gallery.

For this year, “DIKO ALAM” is more of a random fun while exhibiting his latest artworks that inspired his artistry in his youth from the 90s cartoon that you can see in the exhibit.
Diko has been a visual artist for more than a decade or so having his works being on exhibit in the international art scene and being present also at international conventions that feature art and popular culture. His hometown of New Zealand has also featured his works and he collaborated with local visual artists as well who became part of the group shows there.
But nothing like being back in Manila, and not only does Diko create art inspired by his favourite characters his solo shows are also interactive for gallery visitors and longtime followers of his work. His last show, “Critical Hit” is not only his solo show, but visitors get to take home some of his limited handmade sketches.
The latest solo show is all about having fun by letting visitors scribble on the gallery floor using chalk to express their creativity, which some of the parents with younger kids enjoy this interactivity at the same time inspires the next generation of would-be visual artists just like Diko was finding his art style from his youth.
