| 10.08.2012 – Sonny Liew the Eisner-nominated artist who created the world of Malinky Robot also known for his works on My Faith Frankie, Wonderland, Sense and Sensibility to name a few has been consistently adding up his long list of works and his passion for drawing is quite inspiring.
During STGCC 2012 he also has his other works on display and as a gift from the rising artist he gave us the chance to see his other works in the art book “Secret Robot Spy Factory” which was originally published in 2008 which took the name after his blog. |
Under his “Red Robot” publication he released this art book collecting his works from the day he started doodling as a young child to the current inspiring works that we know in Malinky Robot and his other collaborations. His ground breaking work on Wonderland that produced an Eisner nomination for the pencilling/inking category would forever stand out in this art book.

Included in this book is his oil/digital work in some pieces that made it on exhibit that is eye catching and very much Sonny Liew. Then you have the mini-strips that are some definitely a parody that you’ll never stop staring at those strokes of great art.
There are also pin ups and mini-posters of mash ups and quite unique out of a traditional artist who does graphic novels who has a passion to tell a great story through those pencil/ink art. Most of the art came from the pages he worked at DC Vertigo, Marvel Image and First Second Books.
Sonny Liew’s next work will be under Epigram Books in “The Art of Charlie Hock Chye” as compiled by him which will debut in April 2013.
