| 03.18.2013 – During the Croods press screening last Saturday everyone got treated to a surprise from McDonald’s which gave away the latest Happy Meal Toy for April 2013 ahead of the usual release date which is usually a week before end of the month.
Most popular characters from the Croods that was given away were Nicholas Cage’s character in Grug and Emma Stone’s Eep. There are six more characters but those are entirely creatures that was featured in the film. |
Grug as everyone knew in the trailer is Eeps over protective father and head of the Croods family. He’s one of the two characters presented in the Happy Meal Toy that looked like was inspired from Angry Birds.
The concept of making the character a catapult to smash a structure more like throwing a Red Bird against a hapless Minion Pig in this mini game.

All the Happy Meal Toys will have the same type of concept where you make the structure that features a target and you use the existing figurine as the weapon to destroy it. McDonald’s released various colored stones for each character.
The figurine has limited articulation and for the humans they only have movements in their arms. The back of the human figurine looks hallow but the details are good enough for you to recognize who’s the character.

McDonald’s Happy Meal in the Philippines does not come in the trademark box as it the Croods toys won’t be out in all branches until the film’s showing on March 22, 2013.
