Power Rangers 20: Red Ranger!

10.20.2013 – The Power Rangers in the US is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the current series Megaforce going in its second season with Super Megaforce which both series based from Tensou Sentai Goseiger and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.

In line with the celebration Bandai USA has already released some action figures and Megazords based from Tensou Sentai Goseiger. The action figure line not only have Megaforce they also have Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Red Ranger!

The Red Ranger known originally in Japan as the TyrannoRanger from the Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger series from 1992. The figure was included in the Megaforce series but with a stamp celebrating Power Rangers 20.

This figure also includes a Power Card that you can activate using either the Gosei or Robo Morpher. The packaging is similar to the other Megaforce figures released in the series which includes the Red Ranger’s accessories like the Power Sword and Blade Blaster both in opaque black made of soft rubber plastic that gets easily morphed.

The packaging does not have details of the character as this version might be for international release unlike in the actual US card might include description of each character but for this one it only shows the figures in the toy line.

The only details you’ll see is how to download an app for your smart phone to possibly scan the Power Card that came out with each figure.

Looking closely at the action figure, the Red Ranger first portrayed by Jason Lee Scott and Rocky DeSantos in the succeeding season is entirely a new figure. But this Red Ranger appears to be putting a little weight as it appears more bulky than his Megaforce counterpart that looks slimmer.

Just like the other Megaforce figures in the toy line the figure does not have a waste joint or the elbows swivel but its articulated to do some simple action pose. The quality is not as superb as you expect as some figures have very minor paint overlaps.

This is one of the original Power Ranger figures that were released in the current line as the previous series featuring Samurai/Super Samurai (Shinkenger) had released the Yellow and Pink Ranger. Could the anniversary year release the complete set of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Ranger?

There are surprises in store for the anniversary year everyone needs to do is keep an eye on the upcoming releases.

Overall the Red Ranger stands to be a nostalgia character in the Power Rangers 20th anniversary series that you either pick it up or appreciate for Bandai’s effort to bringing it back to be included in the toy line.

The Red Ranger is part of the 20th anniversary of the Power Rangers which is currently featuring Megaforce (Tensou Sentai Goseiger) which is retailed at PhP 499.75 pesos ($ 11.57 US Dollars) manufactured by Bandai and distributed in the Philippines by Ban Kee Trading Corporation.
