12.15.2013 – Better Living Through Xeroxography or simply BLTX is a small press expo on its fourth year. The organizers team up with Lopez Musuem to bring the event to a wider audience and there’s now open to the public.
What once an event held at Ilyong’s Bar & Restaurant for the past three years is now caters to introduce everyone to a community not only about local comics, but also through other aspects of art from the independent scene. |
The event was organized by Adam David, Josel Nicolas, Patrick Rawwrr Enrique or mostly known as part of The Youth and Beauty Brigade. This group of like-minded individuals who would bring this community together, and introduce it to a wider audience in this year’s BLTXIV: The New Beginning.
For this year’s event they also held BLTX TALK II: Alternative Distribution System discussing how independent publishers release their creations at the same time the guest speakers’ advice the best alternative to distribute their works in proper channels. There are neat finds in this year’s BLTX and the area inside the Lopez Museum is well-lighted to see everything that’s unique and underground this event.
There are familiar faces you might see who are exhibitors in the recent Komikon last month. Kowtow Komiks, Point Zero, Electro Lychee, Rommel Estanislao, Elbert Or, Rob Cham, and Nezl Yumul are the publishers and artists who are present for BLTX.
You can also see collectibles, trinkets, and cupcakes being sold. Don’t forget homemade baked chocolate chip cookies. Komikon is not the only event that promotes small press expos, and BLTX is your other alternative supporting the medium not only local comics. But also support poetry and other random independent well-written materials from young creative minds.
