Sight & Highlights: Star Wars Celebration at IMAX Theater!

04. 17. 2015 - Star Wars Celebration kick off its first ever live streaming event in 23 countries including in the Philippines early this morning that revealed what to look forward to the upcoming Star Wars 7th episode saga known as “The Force Awakens.”

It was almost past midnight as those who traveled far away made it to the IMAX Theater as the anticipation grows. There is something phenomenal about Star Wars that transcends across the world and it was best time to be a fan from a galaxy far far away!


The Pinoy 501st a local non-profit organization dressing up as the Empire’s Storm Troopers now officially the known as the Philippine Garrison was at the IMAX Theater getting ready to parade in front of the fans for Star Wars Celebration. Everyone was anticipating the live stream powered by Verizon. Their well-known full scale R2 unit was at the lobby welcoming visitors and having some photo opportunity.

There where food sponsors from Goldilocks and Krispy Kreme giving away snacks before entering the theater. When everyone has settled down the Philippine Garrison entered and stood in front of the stage.

A few minutes before the streaming began Walt Disney Studios Philippines representing and co-organized this event with SM Mall of Asia have local radio DJ Slick Rick of Magic 89.9 FM host the festivities. They first had trivia questions where gave away some Star Wars-related prizes and talked about the upcoming film set to be shown in Philippine cinema on December 17, 2015 (December 18, 2015 in the Philippines).





Then the lights go dark and the live streaming began with house music being played in the main hall of the Anaheim Convention Center. You see the fans in their Star Wars themed attire with lightsabers well lit in their vibrant colors.

Back in the Philippines the local audience where a bit restrained due to the fact that recording or capturing images inside the cinema is prohibited unlike due to the local law of ‘camcording’. But this is not a Star Wars films and there are some other countries like Singapore where freely sharing what they saw during the live stream. This was also aired through Star Wars very own Youtube channel.





But this was never diminished as Filipino fans take a seat and awaited what to expect with a major announcement that would keep the anticipation and excitement alive for the next eight months.

The crowd in Anaheim was ecstatic and then the announcer introduced Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican, the host of the hour calling on J.J. Abrams, the director of “The Force Awakens” and Kathleen Kennedy, the producer and President of Lucasfilms revealing some surprises and inside IMAX Theater everyone was tense talking to the droid builders, the new and the original cast and thanking the fans for the adoration.

Then the lights go off and revealed the second teaser trailer that as expected will have enough views to break the internet for the next few days.





“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, and features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. They will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

The film is being produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk, and John Williams returns as the composer. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is Episode VII in the Star Wars Saga.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.
