#FIRSTLOOK New Power Rangers Revealed!

05.06.2016 – Power Ranger reboot movie is slowly being revealed and previously the new Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) was the first to be introduced online. It won’t be too long until the rangers themselves will be revealed for the world to see.

Earlier this morning that revelation slowly gained mixed reaction from long time fans, and those who currently watching the latest iteration of these colorful heroes would receive different criticism being originally adapted from a Japanese series.

The post-spandex heroes appears to have been inspired by Iron Man, which most people from social media have commented regarding the new look rangers. With the new cast having singer Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy shed off their tights to don a more modern translucent extraterrestrial armor that crystallizes around their bodies.

But for those who have seen the original Japanese Sentai series the colorful costumes is part of their element of what they really are. It seems Saban and its production wants to deviate from the iconic elements of what these rangers have been known since the early 1970s,

These new rangers get an update that is radical which they still honourably respect its old school roots at the same time trying to capture the adult crowd. There’s a saying if it’s broke don’t fix it but the concept how Americans design is different when the Japanese put a hand in their creation.

“It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume,” production designer Andrew Menzies (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) admits. “Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.” Fans like the Yellow Ranger herself. “It’s the coolest costume ever,” Becky G says. “I’m gonna wear it for Halloween for, like, five years.”

The visual look definitely separates itself from the original concept, and at the same time trying to go for the futuristic appearance that doesn’t look like an alien. But for some it might take time getting used to the ‘American’ design.

Power Rangers hits North American theaters on March 24, 2017
