APCC Manila 2016 | Eleven Rules Sunday!

08.29.2016 – The last day of AsiaPop Comic Con Manila is like Saturday packed with even more people attending this event. It’s still filled with activities and happenings courtesy of exhibitors who have their own gimmick attracting visitors to their booths.

Though the weekend was winding down there’s still enough happenings to look forward to. There’s still on-stage panel discussions with guest artists. Plus there’s the CAGE finals all set to rock some of the best cosplayers from this county.

But the highlight for the media to get really up close and personal are Claire Holt and the much anticipated rising talent of Millie Bobby Brown of “Stranger Things”, which have been rumbling in the end of July and still the much talked about actress for this month of August that hopes for a second season on Netflix.

Sunday was wild and hectic filled with cosplayers ready for the CAGE match to be revealing who will be the next best for this year. The on-stage panels continue today and that wasn’t enough you got also live performance from Hiroshi Kitadani, who lend his vocals for the song “Hero” that was the main title opening song for the anime “One Punch Man” that was a surprising series in 2015.

Claire Holt talks about Past, Present & Future Projects

The Aussie actress who had recurring roles in “Pretty Little Liars” to one of the attractive blood suckers in “The Vampire Diaries” talks about her currently TV series reprising Rebekah Mikaelson for spin-off series “The Originals.”

She recently had her recent supporting role in the survivor horror film “In the Deep” spoke to the press inside the media room about her past roles and what to look forward to in “The Originals” and her next

Kajo Baldisimo at the TDK PH Booth

The other half who co-created Trese was at the last day of APCC doing sketches at the same time selling his exclusive Batman prints that’s mesmerising to anyone who are fans of the caped crusader. Budjette Tan must be missing APCC for Kajo’s artwork, but right now he’s busy in LEGOLAND to worry about that now.

Though fans of Baldisimo’s work keep popping up buying the limited art prints like hotcakes at the street corner you’d be happy to know this is the only time you’ll get the three-page Batman art exclusive to TDK PH. He’ll have new stuff for Komikon for now you’ll have to grab these pieces because its going to be limited.

Manix’s First APCC, Beyond the Box

Some would give him names like a deity or a god, but Manix Abrera has nothing with that. Still humbled now Baguio-based independent artist is like anyone else when he went around and visited fellow artists like he’s campaigning for the presidency.

But still Manix won’t have anything with that, though he would humbly just smile and greet fans too along the way. He went around the ‘Creative Circle’ section where most of the local talented artists are set up with their tables and stuff to sell. Like a smooth politician people he knew him asked for selfies. Even before he got to the area and stopped by Rob Cham at the Patintero booth he’s just like any fan bought his works and had a photos together.

Before he starts signing autographs and have started sketches he passed by Toto Magdayag to purchase his recently launched book and then hangout for a few minutes with the Komikon organizers just like another visitor. He was like any fan excited and looking forward to have a booth next year. Before he thought about it for next year surely fans will have marked that calendar down for 2017, but there’s still Komikon in November and like any regular guy Manix will certainly have to do with it.

Ten Minute Q & A Sessions with Millie Bobby Brown

This must be the shortest interview session in APCC history at less than 20 minutes with “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown. The twelve year old who portrayed the science experiment turned super powered ‘Eleven’ was the highlight for the media to get the chance to ask questions to her.

It was short brief and decent questions where thrown at her like Eggos devoured in less than 20 minutes. There were more security people in the area and the Green Room, where the press conference are held for meet ups and interviews was packed to the brim where all cameras on the young actress.

Millie certainly hopes and guaranteed that there will be a second season for “Stranger Things”, and she’s excited for that. She’s ready for other roles if offered to her in the future as she wants to expand her range as a talented actress. For now she’s grateful for the portrayal to ‘Eleven’ that elevated her to new heights and certainly can’t wait for the next season seeing the other cast in the show.

Creative Circle Artist Pick

There have been talented artists at the Creative Circle section and there have been numerous works never before seen even at Komikon. The grassroots are ripe for the picking on who’s who the best talents are is ready for the spotlight.

Rarely there are artists ever getting noticed for their works art when it comes to toy customizations. There are ‘Art Toy’ artists in the Philippines that are taken noticed. “Likhang Pinoy Customs” is one of those who thread in the field of Designer Art Toy community that is steadily growing in the underground scene.

You can see his works that featured Funko Pop as his prominently customized art toys that where on display at the Creative Circle that would certainly catch your attention. If you missed it drop by his Facebook Page and see his next projects.

The last day was like a whirlwind of events that happened in the last three days. Certainly there are enough memories for APCC Manila to be your top convention for 2016 that continues to expand and give not only the spotlight to the main guests, but also the local talents at the Creative Circle certainly the sight to go to whenever another event happens next year.
