McDonald's Heading into the Spider-Verse!

12.07.2018 – If you’ve been living under a rock you might not be in know what’s the latest Happy Meal toy right now. For November 2018 you’ve got “Pokemon Asia” which was immediately sold out at the same time may or may not directly a tie-up merchandise for the animated feature film of the latest iteration simply titled “Pokemon The Movie: The Power of Us” that was shown last month.

This December it was something of an ironic as “Spider-Man: In to the Spider-Verse” clearly unexpected with McDonald’s Australia having already announced their next toy.

But there was no news if it will be in available other counties or a particular region namely in Asia that some collectors and fans have probably be having their wish granted before Christmas as this is now the toys for the Philippines. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is based from the original crossover mini-series published by Marvel comics. This film star Miles Morales, the Spider-Man from the Ultimate Universe with Peter B. Parker from the Prime Universe and colorful Spider Characters like Spider-Ham, Spider-Noir, and Spider-Gwen to the name a few that you’ll see in cinemas.

The Happy Meal toys that coincide with the release of the film in Australia consist of twelve figurines that have individual gimmicks at the same time you have an option to choose which character you want when you apply the sticker sheets that is packed with the toy. In the Philippines there are only eight as any McDonald’s store in Asia that’s the standard number of toys that is sold in this region.

Mixed and Match Arachnids

At first look at the display in one of the McDonald’s stores in Manila you’ll see how all of them don’t actually translate from the product photos shared online. If you know art toys from the conventional figurines these might be good for customizing than applying the stickers from the label sheets that came with them. The quality of the stickers don’t look good in them aesthetically when you actually applying them and you can only use them one time. Removing the stickers you use is prone to damage as mentioned the quality is not good.

Based on the product photo released by McDonald’s in Australia the some of the based figurines are the same it’s the stickers are different with majority released for the Asian market including the Philippines have a lot of Peni Parker as the alternate labels, while in the Oceana region have more figure variation with a different set of stickers.

Choose Your Spidey

Like last month’s Pokemon toys it’s all out collect them all figurines with the same body types with the exception of Spider-Ham as the one with the pink body type has his snout molded to the head, while some have alternate stickers for the other figurines this one is unique.

For the Australian exclusives the body type colors for Prowler which is purple and for Spider-Gwen are not available for the Philippines region with the other two (see product image). It may show up in North America (US/Canada) or in Europe but it will depend on the limited amount of figurines available for a certain country. The rarity also is the label sheets that are included when you purchase the figurine.

Though most Happy Meal collectors in the Philippines won’t even bother collecting the toys despite that they only have eight figurines these will be sold out before the month ends. It’s promotional tie-in merchandise that is released ahead of the movie’s regular screening. Surely, only few will probably be disappointed with the quality of stickers but entirely a 2-in-1 figurine everyone will be getting now.
