06.03.2019 – The 90th Anniversary celebration for Kenkoy has begun. If you missed the weeklong celebration that began in FEU last month there’s still a chance you can catch the pocket tours that not only to celebrate the character’s first comic strip. But also meet a few local artists and illustrators.
SM Manila and Kenkoy collaborate not only to celebrate the first Filipino komiks, but ahead of the Philippine Independence Day. Get to know the grassroots of the local komiks scene and check out their past and current works. It’s going to be an experience that Filipino Komiks is still here! |
This is the first day of the weeklong celebration for Kenkoy. Catch the local artists at the main atrium at the ground floor, where you can find Ian Velasquez the writer behind The New DI-13 series, Freely Abrigo the creator of Kulas, Mel Casispit the creator behind Sikami and Cheesy Fit, and Lyndon Gregorio the creator for Beerkada will be at the venue until 6 PM.
There will be a mini-exhibit tribute for Tony Velasquez’s creation “Kenkoy” featuring original artwork that can also be found in the Philippine Independence Day area that you can see it for yourself.
Aside from the local artists area you can also meet Danny Acuna, one of the talented sketch artists draw your likeness, where you can find his table just nearby the artists area that you’ll see some of his previous works and more.
