| 12.09.2019 – Contemporary Art scene is evolving in the Philippines with that the constant change is also the evolution of the talent that is put out in local galleries across the country mostly in the heart of Central Luzon, where most of these art spaces can be found as one of the melting pot for this type of venue.
With Doktor Karayom it is also the evolution of the artist himself who still thinks he has so much to learn from the good, bad, and the ugly as criticisms can be a window of improvement and there’s so much of the artist has defined in his latest Solo Art Show at the Ronac Lifestyle Center in Magallanes titled “FLAWS.” |
Rasel Trinidad a.k.a Doktor Karayom is still piercing through through the tapestry of contemporary art with his latest Solo Art Show “FLAWS” that define the imperfection of his creation as well as more related to how each canvas of art define the inner ‘flaws’ of humanity that’s more aching to how Mental Health is addressed as well as taking inspiration from one of his favorite artists international artist, KAWS.
Besides the impressive improvements from his latest art pieces he also produced his art toys namely the child size handmade resin figurine with opening chest doors to reveal organ parts and 12 tiny resin creatures also made from resin, that takes KAWS signature creation and spins it into Doktor Karayom’s perspective.
The artist also partnered with his local contemporaries like Quattro Hapimeel, Distort Monsters, and Nemo Aguila to name a few who contributed in making some of the six inch resin figures, which is a scaled down version of the larger one that has attracted visitors of the exhibit.
Visually, Doktor Karayom’s paintings has been ‘flawless’ when it comes to the texture of his latest works, but at the same time keeping his signature style in making complicated and intricate maze of lines that defines the FLAWS of the human mind. The good doctor still pierces his sharp needle of visual narrative into something relevant in today’s society about being not perfect and exposing the human flaws that shows that everyone breaths the same air and also have their individual struggles.
